Jewish Federations of North America General Assembly
November 6-8, 2011 - Denver, CO
Interested in a prestigious, once-in-a-lifetime leadership opportunity? Join St. Louis Hillel's student delegation to the General Assembly! The GA is the premier conference for all Jewish community leaders throughout North America. It inspires and engages current and emerging Jewish leaders by tackling the critical issues of the day and showcasing the best of the Jewish Federation movement. There will also be special student sessions and each St. Louis college area student will be paired with a seasoned leader as a mentor.
St. Louis Hillel will cover the $225 student rate (includes registration, most meals and a two night stay in triple occupancy). Participants need to cover travel.

Yiddish Book Center: Steiner Summer Program
The program offers matriculating college students a unique opportunity for a tuition-free, seven-week intensive course in Yiddish language and culture. Beginning and intermediate students will be immersed in language study, and will also study the history, literature, culture and music of the Jews of Central and Eastern Europe.

Civic Engagement Fund (CEF) Grants
The CEF provides support for graduate, professional and undergraduate students for civic engagement and community service projects in the U.S. and abroad. Funding amounts vary up to $500. Grants are available for both individuals and groups.
The deadline is October 7th, 2011 by 5pm.

The Fellow selected will arrange a specific work schedule with his or her supervisor at the JCRC. A stipend of $3000 will be provided to the Fellow. The Taste of St. Louis Service event will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 from 4-6pm in College Hall, on the South 40 residential area of the Danforth campus. Over 30 community organizations will participate for the fair (4-5pm) and two sets of roundtable discussions (5-6pm) about critical social issues, from K-12 education to community health. Enjoy refreshments that are uniquely St. Louis and raffle prizes.

Join artist Tanya Fredman for a hands-on art workshop, "Renewed like the Moon: Exploring Time in Jewish Texts", at the Brodsky Library. The workshop will combine art making with discussion of Jewish texts, and participants will create their own collages exploring ideas of sacred time in Jewish calendar.
