Do Your Own Seder: Get Out of Egypt Your Way
Create your own Seder traditions by hosting a Seder with your friends in your dorm, apartment, or even in the Hillel building! You can receive a $5 per person subsidy for your meal plus matzah and a filled Seder plate, borrow Haggadot, and get access to other resources to personalize your Seder experience - including Seder Leader Workshops!
In order to receive the subsidy, you must attend a Seder Leader Workshop with Rabbi Andy on either Sunday, April 10 (5:00-7:00pm) or Wednesday, April 13 (7:00-9:00pm). You will also need to fill out a Program Reimbursement Form (available by clicking here) and provide receipts from your purchases showing that you spent at least the amount of your subsidy.

The Roffman Family Day of Service is a collaborative effort between St. Louis Hillel at Washington University and the Young Professionals Division of the Jewish Federation. This year, we will help with some much needed "spring beautification" of Gateway 180, a shelter for women and children in the community - including painting, arts and crafts, cleaning, cooking, lawn care and children's activities. The Jewish Student Union and Catholic Student Union are co-sponsoring Shared Traditions: A Look at Passover and the Last Supper from Jewish and Christian Perspectives. The evening promises to be informative and insightful, centered around interfaith dialogue. The event will include speakers, a representative Seder meal, and small group discussion over kosher food. There will be no charge for the event. We do ask that you spend some time to help us make cards for children in Barnes-Jewish Hospital. -- Community Clothing Drive for NCJW Aviva, a group of young Jewish women in sororities who are committed to Jewish values and community service, is sponsoring a drive for the Kids Community Closet, run by the National Council of Jewish Women. Kids Community Closet delivers new clothing directly to hundreds of students each year. As determined by a teacher, administrator or social worker, children in crisis or emergency situations receive as needed clothing, outerwear, underwear and socks. Anyone can participate in this drive by contributing through the online registry. This allows you to go online from anywhere and purchase items to be shipped free of charge. Later this semester, Aviva and the National Council of Jewish Women will present all of the clothing to the schools. -- The Hows and Whys of What We Do: Jewish Life Deconstructed
For all of these years I never knew why Jews have the custom of putting salt on challah at Shabbat dinner, what the significance is of the choreography of the prayer service or why we put a mezuzah on our doors. Join this guided discussion to uncover and understand the significance of the whats and whys of being Jewish. We will meet on Mondays at 6:00pm in the DUC Millstone Lounge (entrance near Forsyth).

-- Dickinson College, a leader in the fields of global and sustainability education, is parterning with the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies, the premier environmental education and reserach program in the Middle East, to offer a unique summer opportunity for undergraduate students to study environmental sustainability issues in Israel. The four-week program, Environmental Sustainability in the Middle East: Challenges in the Southern Arava, will focus on topics integral to understanding environmental issues in the region such as desert ecology and biodiversity, eco-building and organic gardening, and envionmental ethics, justice, and leadership. -- EMUNAH of America and the Jossi Berger Holocaust Study Center announce the 18th Annual Holocaust Essay Contest. This year's topic is "Legacy of Courage." The essay should include: a) an interview done by each student of an individual who he or she believes personifies the exemplary attributes of courage, bravery, and leadership in the face of great danger and unspeakable horrors during the Shoah; and b) a past and present picture of the interviewee. 1st Prize - $500 US Savings Bond, 2nd Prize - $300, 3rd Prize - $200, Honorable Mention - $50. -- The AJWS Presidential Fellowship is a 12-month fellowship for a recent college graduate or young professional to accompany Ruth Messinger on her domestic travel and speaking engagements in Jewish communities throughout North America, with the goal of exploring deeper means of building and strengthening AJWS's relationships with Jewish communities. The fellowship is an exceptional opportunity for a recent graduate to travel throughout North America, receive mentorship from one of the most well respected leaders within the North American Jewish and international development communities, learn about diverse Jewish communities, the developing world, and the internal workings of a major Jewish nonprofit and international development organization and help impact the ability of AJWS to expand and deepen partnerships within the North American Jewish community. Brenner Leadership Summer Internship through CAJE/Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City is a program created for college-age sophomores, juniors and seniors and provides an opportunity to be paid while working for a Jewish agency/organization. The goals of this internship program are to provide mentor-based paid field experience for college students, to expose students to the field of Jewish communal service and to the Greater Kansas City Jewish community, to incorporate students' academic and/or personal interests with the Jewish communal professional world, and to provide a professional mentor experience within the Jewish community. During this eight-week experience, interns will work either full-time or part-time for a Jewish institution. Full-time the pay is $2,000 and part-time the pay is $1,000. -- Join Hebrew Union College on an American Jewish Archives Youth Retreat - Going Green...burg: What Judaism Has to Say About Living an Eco-Friendly Life. College students from across North America will engage in an interactive study about the Jewish concept of eco-friendly living, enjoy engaging sessions with HUC's world-renowned faculty and rabbinical students, experience the resources of the HUC campus, and spend Shabbat afternoon and Havdallah at Grailville Farm learning about humanely raised livestock and green agriculture.
