The Hillel at the University of Pennsylvania in Philly has an opening for a Jewish Student Life Coordinator for the upcoming school year! There is a large and very active Jewish community based in the Hillel building and around campus. Penn Hillel is a mission driven organization that seeks to inspire a sense of confidence in student's own Judaism by empowering them with the skills, knowledge, and experiences to live meaningful Jewish lives. The Jewish Student Life Coordinator will work with involved and uninvolved student leaders to coach them, to enhance current Hillel community offerings and create new initiatives, as well as to help current student leaders grow and develop. Devote a year to making global justice a focus of American Jewish life and identity - devote a year to living the mission of American Jewish World Service as the first annaul AJWS Presidential Fellow. This is a 12-month fellowship for a recent college graduate to accompany Ruth Messinger on her professional travel, including speaking engagements in Jewish communities throughout North America as well as the possibility of international travel associated with conferences, study tours or service trips. The Yahel Social Change Program is an exciting new 5-month service learning experience for young adults between the ages of 21 and 27. The program is based in the town of Gedera in Israel, and combines hands-on volunteer work with in-depth learning and immersion. Offered in collaboration with a grassroots non-profit organization working in the Ethiopian community in the fields of community empowerment and education, this is a unique opportunity to take part in meaningful and innovative social change efforts in Israel. Yahel participants live, volunteer and learn alongside young adults from the local Ethiopian-Israeli community. Substantial grants and scholarships are available through Masa Israel Journey. Arranged marriage, polygamy, female writers of Yiddish and Hebrew poetry, images of masculinity in the Midrash, gender in the Bible, and men and women in American Jewish culture-these topics and more form the subject matter of classes in Jewish Gender and Women's Studies at The Jewish Theological Seminary. Offered by The Graduate School of JTS, this unique interdisciplinary MA program appeals to students who are intrigued by questions about gender roles in contemporary Jewish communal life, Jewish history, and Judaism.
