A special kosher luncheon held for Jewish Alumni, Graduates & Their Families.
Dr. Karen Levin Coburn will be Chair of the event. Honorary Chairs Michelle Gralnick(Class of '84) and Lori Tenser(Class of '84) will also be in attendance.

Shabbat Around Town

Gesher City St. Louis and Young Professionals Division of the Jewish Federation have started a program for young adults to attend FREE Shabbat dinners in someones home each month. Hear Alan Solow Speak: Alan Solwo, Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, Chair of the JCCA of North America and long-time friend of President Barack Obama will visit St. Louis as part of the Staenberg Family Complex Opening Celebration week.  Mr. Solow will speak on the topic of Jews and World Politics in the 21st Century: The 2008 Election and Beyond, on Wednesday, May 13th at 7:30 PMat the Staenberg Family Complex Edison Gymnasium.  For more information contact Lisa Liebschutz at lliebschutz@jccstl.org or 314.442.3188
  
The JCC to Hosts Its 19th Annual Tour de Fun May 31st 2009: Created especially for families with children 10 and under, activities will include pony and train rides; fun with remote controlled cars; food from Kohn's Kosher Foods; arts and crafts; a circus demonstration; creative interactive areas; and large inflatable games. St. Louis children's entertainer Babaloo and Fredbird, the St. Louis Cardinals mascot will also be on hand. ADL's Campus Leadership Study Mission to Israel
June 8-17, 2009
Provides student journalists and politically active leaders with a FREE up-close and personal perspective of Israel by learning about the strategic and social challenges facing Israel today. Mission participants will meet with key decision-makers, government and military officials, diplomats, journalists, students and everyday Israelis --Arab and Jewish -- from diverse communities, cultures and backgrounds. Participants will visit sights of historical, religious and contemporary interest. The group will take all necessary security precautions and will avoid potentially dangerous areas. The group will travel by private bus. Students who have previously visited Israel are not eligible. Students may register online at Website.The application deadline is April 15th. opportunity for student leaders to have a profound impact on their campus communities. Within
one of the Internship's issue areas, Grinspoon Interns develop and implement a creative,
ongoing, strategic, collaborative and impactful long-term initiative designed to change campus

Brith Sholom Kneseth Israel Synagogue Congregation (BSKI) seeks a Programming Director.  The Program Director will create and implement programs designed to engage members of the congregation, from preschoolers to seniors. The Gephardt Institute for Public Service is hiring an AmeriCorps*VISTA :
Job purpose: To assist the program director and program manager with the development and implementation of programs and events related to civic engagement and community-based teaching and learning (also known as service-learning) at Washington University in St. Louis.  AmeriCorps*VISTA members serve full-time for one calendar year with varying work hours and receive a modest living allowance, health insurance, relocation expenses, student loan forbearance, childcare assistance, and travel reimbursement.  Upon completion of service, members choose between an education award of $4,725 or a cash stipend of $1,200, and receive non-competitive eligibility for federal employment.  For more information contact jharpring@wustl.edu
Discover Jerusalem Semester Spring 2010: The Discover Jerusalem curriculum offered at the Hadassah Academic College includes Talmud four mornings a week (five levels) and Halakha or Midrash once a week (two levels) at the CY, with emphasis on the skills for studying the text in the original.  The HAC classes will give unique exposure to Jerusalem and the Middle East, historically and today, through the study of water resources, of the history and politics of Jerusalem, and photography of Jerusalem.  The language of instruction will be English.

Dvar Tzedek Writers' Fellowship
AJWS is pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for the Dvar Tzedek Lisa Goldberg Memorial Writers' Fellowship for 5770 / 2009-2010. AJWS Dvar Tzedek Fellows receive a modest stipend and write weekly Torah commentaries relating to the Jewish imperative for social justice. Groundbreaking Conflict Transformation Program Launches for Fourth Straight Year
This ten-month fellowship, affiliated with the University of San Francisco's Center for Global Education, begins with a month-long trip to the Balkans, meeting activists and scholars alike in Serbia, Kosovo, and Bosnia-Herzegovnia. Students study the Balkan wars of the 1990s in an effort to re-examine the seemingly intractable Israeli-Palestinian conflict. During the academic year immediately following the summer students engage in two four-day conferences, aimed to empower them to engage with students on their campus, and organize campus and community presentations, helping them articulate their own activist voices.
