Baby HenryWelcome Baby Henry!

Congratulations are in order to Stephanie Calondis Geiger, our Director of Youth Programs, and husband Jesse on the birth of their son Henry. Mother and baby are doing well and enjoying some much deserved time together. Bobbi Mucha, CCWA's 2005 International Educator of the Year, is filling in for Stephanie during her leave and can be reached via EMAIL.

 
 
gallery hopCouncil Fellows Take Action
CCWA youth group members continued their efforts to combat human trafficking in Ohio. Earlier this month, the group was on hand in the Short North to provide Gallery Hop patrons information on this local and global issue. This awareness project was part of their 2010 campaign to inform our community about human trafficking and engage local stakeholders in various initiatives.

Did you know that you can now access all of CCWA's symposia lectures online? Our latest addition is Gayle Smith, Special Assistant to President Obama & Senior Director for the National Security Council, who spoke about the role of women in development and global security on May 21. WATCH NOW.
 

Members Look Back & Ahead
Last week, CCWA members participated in our Annual Meeting of the Members. This year's format presented members the opportunity to also join the corresponding board meetings. Meeting highlights included a sneak preview of CCWA's soon-to-be-launched new website and a summary of this past year. culturecamp08Summer Camps Become Global
CCWA's youth efforts this summer include global outreach at various summer camps for elementary through high school youth in Franklin and Licking County. Among the session locations are Welsh Hills (Granville), The Works (Newark), Thurber House & Amethyst (Columbus). Culture camp sessions explore varied topics from writing and forensic science to culinary arts and gardening.

National Conference Early Registration
The 2010 World Affairs Councils of America National Conference will be held November 3-5 in Washington, DC. The program - U.S. Foreign Policy: Into the Next Decade - will examine U.S. foreign policy and the challenges we confront in the coming decade. Early registration rates are in effect until August 16.
