Full Moon in Aries
The Full Moon Is always a time of culmination and this Aries moon comes into focus through the lens of Mars and Venus, the archetypal lovers. Mars, as expressed through the sign of Aries is our energetic and egotistical drive; Venus articulated in the sign of Libra is our desire to please others. Aries is personal; Libra is relatively impersonal.
Aries is also about ego, and finding a healthy way of being in the world. A good place to start is by recognizing the role your sense of self plays in your everyday life. The Sanskrit term for this sense of Self, or feeling of 'I Am' is Ahamkāra: the part of your consciousness that is self-aware and deals with wants and desires. It is also referred to as the ego. Although ego has negative connotations when expressed as a desire for personal glory, ego also serves a vital function of preservation. The secret lies in finding a healthy balance, as expressed by the sun sign Libra.

Bubble Nebula
Image Credit & Copyright: Larry Van Vleet, NASA
It's the bubble versus the cloud. NGC 7635, the Bubble Nebula, is being pushed out by the stellar wind of massive central star BD+602522. Next door, though, lives a giant molecular cloud, visible to the right. At this place in space, an irresistible force meets an immovable object in an interesting way. The cloud is able to contain the expansion of the bubble gas, but gets blasted by the hot radiation from the bubble's central star. The radiation heats up dense regions of the molecular cloud causing it to glow. The Bubble Nebula, pictured above in scientifically mapped colors to bring up contrast, is about 10 light years across and part of a much larger complex of stars and shells. The Bubble Nebula can be seen with a small telescope towards the constellation of the Queen of Aethiopia (Cassiopeia).

October 11, 2011
Tonight's full Moon is known as the Hunter's Moon. It follows the Harvest Moon. In days of yore, hunters could pursue game across the fields left bare by the harvest with the help of the light of the full Moon.
The planet Jupiter rises to the lower left of the Moon this evening and follows the Moon during the night. It looks like a brilliant star. Through binoculars, its four largest moons look like tiny stars arrayed near the giant planet.
Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system, is in great view tonight, a little to the right of the Moon as they rise in early evening. Jupiter looks like a brilliant star, and is outshone by only the Moon.
Gamma Cassiopeia, which forms the center point of the "W" that outlines the constellation Cassiopeia, never sets. As Earth rotates, Gamma Cas appears to rotate around the North Star. But like the North Star itself, it never drops below the horizon.
The faint constellation Sculptor scoots low across the south tonight. One of its treasures is the Cartwheel galaxy, which is 420 million light-years away. It looks like a ring of light, which formed when a small galaxy punched through a larger one.
Deneb, the star that forms the tail of Cygnus, the swan, appears almost directly overhead in early evening. The name Deneb derives from an Arabic word that means "the tail." Deneb is a white supergiant star about 1,500 light-years from Earth.
