What's Going On
"We are so much stronger now than we were before" . . quote from New Orleans Parish church member regarding living through the trials of Hurricane Katrina and now the Gulf oil spill. . .
* * * * * * * * * * * * * The month of July presents us with a stellar line up of astrological events. First, right on the heels of the lunar eclipse of June 26th, we next appreciated a solar eclipse on July 11th.
The signs Cancer and Capricorn align on the cardinal, or action starting axis. Kabbalah teaches that both of these signs also align with the energy of judgment. This does not transfer to the personal realm of holding opinions regarding other people, rather to the Universal concept of cause and effect, or karma.
During the month of July, then, there is immediacy between our actions and the consequences of such. Feeligns of fear and hopelessness are a corruption of Saturn, the ruling planet of Capricorn. Saturn reflects our physical and material world, and his power tool is the scythe. However, Saturn can bind through fear, or we can use the strength of physicality to construct a new reality.
Moon rules the sign of Cancer. Keywords for Moon are: emotional state, family, home, growth, change, and heart. And is it not true that the power of love and emotion is a force that can move heaven and earth? Fear functions as a grim reaper that cuts you off from your source, or, you can use the scythe of Saturn as a tool to harvest a bounty; but it requires work and commitment on our part. I believe that the lunar, regenerative nature of the human spirit is the one quality that insures we can and will move into a positive future.
Considering the stated nature of the sign of Cancer, that this is a month of swift karmic movement, the Solar Eclipse of July 11th has initiated change and new dimension for many of us. The commitments to make however are to the powers of unity, love, and balance. Even in the uncertain darkness of the New Moon, we must maintain a connection to our core essence and true spiritual nature, while also honoring our committments. This is the challenge of the eclipses.
Also this month we revisit the Saturn/Uranus opposition cycle which began on Election Day in 2008. Right on the heels of the Aquarius Full Moon of July 25th comes the exact opposition of Saturn and Uranus; the old versus the new.
And, to make things even more interesting, Mercury opposes Neptune on the same day, the 26th, plus the Sun forms a stellar trine to Jupiter. My interpretation here is: what you see is NOT what you get. Promises are made as big ole Fatcat (Sun trine Jupiter) wants to shine on, but there is an ulterior motive (Mercury opposite Neptune.) Watch and see how this one plays out. As Mars opposes Uranus on the 30th, and with Mercury trine Pluto on the same day, a more accurate picture of your options will unfold. |

ECLIPSES
Think of an eclipse as a giant re-set button, one which will influence the parts of your life that are reflected by sign and house in your natal chart. There is much misinformation that circulates about eclipses. It was only the uneducated and uninformed people who feared them in ancient times; the wise ones knew they were coming, and could even predict their arrival years in advance.

Eclipses ARE an important predictive tool in astrology! Think of them as life affirming lunations that shine a spotlight into your chart, and your life.
During a Lunar Eclipse, the earth comes between the Moon and the Sun, temporarily blocking the light of the Moon. Lunar eclipses occur at the time of Full Moon, and will unfold Full Moon issues such as completions, famly relationships, and emotional states.
During a Solar Eclipse, the Moon comes between the earth and the Sun. This occurs at the time of New Moon, and it will initiate new beginnings. Being solar in nature, this eclipse will trigger actual events, however, it can take up to 2 years for them to fully materialize. |
