2010 - The Scoop
Blessings of the New Year to all. In numerology, 10 is a number of perfection, and even 20 represents refinement and diversity of the intention of 10 - so, in the year of 2010 we can all look forward to new beginnings combined with opportunity to develop and refine our objectives.
Wheel of Fortune
In addition to perfection, the number 10 calls for an individual to respond to his or her Higher Self. It is interesting to note that in traditional Tarot decks the 10th card is the "Wheel of Fortune." This card was created as a moniker of the goddess Fortuna. The roll of Fortuna's wheel does not always bring extreme good luck, but it does open the door to the chance and opportunity.
And most important of all, through continual movement, Fortuna's wheel brings us all to the perfection of our growth. Isn't it true that really we create our own luck? Or, to quote Marvin Phillips: "the difference between try and triumph is just a little umph."
Good Luck Shining - Lakshmi
Fortuna can also be related to the feminine Hindu goddess Lakshmi. This lovely goddess of prosperity and expansion is said to love the stars of the nighttime sky because they resemble her sparkling jewels. The overwhelming beauty of stars is that they are infinite in number; just like the opportunities that will come your way in 2010.
Part of Fortune
Fortuna also has a connection with an astrological symbol called the Part of Fortune. The Part of Fortune, also known as the Part of Joy, is a mathematical point in your chart derived from the Sun, Moon and Ascendant. I urge you to find out where your personal Part of Fortune lies in your natal chart by both sign and house, and then consciously work it in this year of growth.
Jupiter & Uranus
On June 8th, the mighty king of planets Jupiter meets unruly Uranus. What is remarkable is that they join forces at 0° of Aries, the Cardinal spring point. This meeting releases a flow of fresh and vibrant cosmic energy and it is truly a marker for all of humanity. Due to the militant nature of Mars which is the planetary ruler of Aries, I unfortunately predict that we will experience even more unrest in the word as war fueled by religious differences influences our lives.
Uranus in Aries will demand expression, and Jupiter has under tones of secular dominance by so called religious authorities. I prefer to present good news, however an honest examination of the picture leads me to this serious conclusion.
On a personal level, Jupiter and Uranus herald a call to accept and command your own divinity. Thinking of starting a new project? I also predict that by June you will no longer be able to resist the siren call of manifesting the life you truly wish to create.
Mercury Retrograde
Here are the dates for 2010:
April 18 - May 11; Aug. 20 - Sept. 12; Dec. 10 - Dec. 30
(Mark them on your calendar for planning during the year ahead)
We actually begin 2010 in a Mercury retrograde period. Mercury stations direct on the 15th, and moves out of the shadow of its previous motion on February 3rd.
The good news is that energetically, you have some time to reflect upon the changes you want to create for the New Year. Monday or Tuesday, the 18th and 19th are still great days to initiate long lasting change. You'll be tested on Tuesday evening when the Moon joins Uranus, but, persevere and energize, and you are golden.
Mercury retrograde is a time when it's best to hold the course for a few weeks and not sign contracts or begin endeavors which you don't want to have to re-do at a later date. Mercury retrograde is an excellent time period for introspection or reevaluation of your life purpose and relationships.

December 31, 2009 - Lunar Eclipse @ 10° Cancer (will influence 2010)
January 30 - Lunar Eclipse @ 10° Leo
June 26 - Lunar Eclipse @ 4° Capricorn
December 21 - Lunar Eclipse @ 29° Gemini (the 29th degree of any sign is a critical degree - at the end of the year, you are going to be asking yourselves "What did I LEARN/communicate/talk about/teach/write in 2010?"
Eclipses tumble into your life in depending upon the dynamics inherent in your natal chart. It's critical to understand that your world is not necessarily destined to fall apart with every eclipse. And, that we must also trust that life is a continual evolution of our spiritual development.
The best way to think of an eclipse is that it initiates changes; and that in accordance with the physical world we inhabit, for new growth to manifest, we must prune what is old and no longer productive.
Another way to think about the nature of eclipses is look at situations where perhaps one person is extremely talented, but is overlooked in comparison to competitor who is more beautiful. The talent is eclipsed by beauty; something comes in front of, and outshines something or someone else.
Solar eclipses generally bring external events which we have not consciously manifested. They also highlight that which you have mastered and can teach. Lunar eclipses precipitate internal emotions which fuel changes brought on by our feelings regarding people and/or situations. The lunar eclipse point also reflects that which you are learning.
Saros Cycle - Prediction of meaning
Eclipses occur in numbered and predictable cycles, named Saros cycles. They are also classified in astrolgical language by the planetary influences present when the cycle first began at either the North or South Pole. For example, the January 14/15th Solar Eclipse of 2010 originated in May, 1613 at the North Pole. Based upon the interpretation of the planetary influences evident at its' conception , this eclipse also carries the vibration of having to accept greater responsibilities and even having to leave loved ones in order to fulfill a career destiny.
The January Solar Eclipse happens to be the exact degree of my Midheaven. So, using myself as an example, the Astro*Fairy tells me that I have some BIG changes coming and everybody is going to know about them. OK - that's a good thing, right?
