December 2009 - The Scoop

Greetings, and welcome to the final month of 2009. It's all good, right? At least that is what we say when trying to understand all that has transpired in the course of a calendar year. Truly the words of our master teachers have brought inspiration. I was recently intrigued by Michael Beckwith's discussion on the difference between living in the PRESENT, versus living in the NOW. As I understand his words, the present is universally available, but the moment of power is - now.

December is definitely a power month which begins with a fast step forward when unruly Uranus stations into direct motion on Tuesday the 1st. The Cosmic Cleanup detail, which began July of 2009, is now over until next July of 2010. Uranus is a planet of individuality and self expression. (Albeit, sometimes rebellious expression.) This summer, when Uranus was retrograde, it was a time to look within and confront those obstacles which keept us locked into our old patterns.

Now, with Uranus direct, we proceed into a cycle of personal and social change with the newly won freedoms of our personal growth. The timing is perfect. After months of introspection and self observation, I think I'm ready to take up the banner and march on. How about you?

Last July also brought a Full Moon lunar eclipse at 15° Capricorn. The Saros Cycle interpretation of this eclipse was to reform old way of doing and to create new systems. Coming on January 15, 2010, we will be graced with a New Moon solar eclipse at 25° Capricorn. This one promotes greater responsibility and new commitments.

Generally, lunar eclipses foster internal change fueled by our thoughts and feelings, and solar eclipses bring about external events that we may not have consciously planned. If you are familiar with your natal chart, now is a good time to see how and where Capricorn plays in your natal astrology because this will be the arena that is going to reveal the changes precipitated by your thoughts and desires of the past summer. Just what has your heart been calling for? You'll probably get it before the end of 2010; and perhaps much sooner.

We have two Full Moons this month, making the Cancer lunar eclipse of December 31st, New Year's Eve a 'Blue Moon.' So, although New Year's Eve is a traditional night to go out, I predict that many people will be in the mood to stay at home and/or invite friends over for a more intimate celebration. This is my favorite Full Moon of the year, for although it is cold outside, the Cancer moon is soft and warm.

Generally, though, this month is beyond warm, it's HOT. Venus in Sagittarius most of the month keeps things lively. I have noticed that people wear the wildest things when Venus is in Sag. The New Moon of December 16th is also in the prophetic sign of justice, Sagittarius. Venus speaks out through taste in clothing, but we will see some more real truths unveiled, also.

December 21st, Winter Solstice brings another Jupiter/Neptune/Chiron conjunction. And this one is triggered by the Moon in the early hours of the day. This brings a healing salve to social and personal wounds. Is Solstice a day of darkness, or a day of protection? This year the Angelic realm is close at hand to assist your calls.

For all religions, this holy season is truly holy. Our hearts have been tenderized by economic turmoil and rapid change, but now we can meet Spirit with an open heart. Practice affirming what you want, and see what you focus on expand and grow.
