Facing the cardinal directions during prayer, East, South, West, and North, is a way of keeping grounded while maintaining your connection to the Light of God. Each direction has special gifts and messages, as well as totem animals which express the teachings.
Anytime is a good time for prayer, but the morning and evening are especially potent times tor receive guidance and connect with your spiritual essence. The following is a morning prayer, illustrated with my Easy Astrology Oracle Cards plus original photographs.

Spirit of the East, I thank you for your gift of illumination and the vision to see far and wide. I thank you for your gift of dreams and inspiration, and the soft renewal of your spring season.
I honor the animals which deliver your message; the hawk and eagle, the wise owl and the crafty raven. I honor the songbirds which share their joyous sounds and convey beauty through your element of air. I

thank you for the fertility of the hen, and the protection of the rooster. I thank you for the social bees, and even the mosquitoes who serve to remind me of that which I am forgetting. Thank you for the glory and splendor which I see in the wings of a dragonfly.
Each morning you convey the Sun into my life and help me find clarity with grace. Through your radiance I rise above earthly concerns and remember my true essence.
Spirit of the East, I thank you for your blessings of vision and the light of each new day.
Spirit of the South, I thank you for your gifts intuition and the trust to move beyond the physical realm. I thank you for your gifts of spiritual transmutation found in the fires of a hot summer season. I honor the animals of your direction; the powerful cougar and lynx, the bobcat and the jaguar, and even the housecat who transforms nine lives into one.
I live my life in remembrance of the Phoenix, your mighty bird of alchemy, and I honor all who survive the most difficult of times and emerge victorious. I express my talents in remembrance of the Centaur, a creature of both wisdom and play. I shall live my life as an example of passion and transformation.
Spirit of the South, I am a child of your creative essence, and through your element of fire I am continually renewed and purified.
Spirit of the West, I thank you for your gifts of divination and emotion. I honor your essence as a guardian of the sacred gates. You bring me to the doorway between the worlds of light and darkness as I walk on my path of initiation. I honor your season of autumn and the months when we store up goods to sustain life through times of uncertainty.
I honor your element of water and the flow of emotions which gives depth and true connection to others. Thank you for the dolphins who are our brothers and sisters teaching us about joy and communication. Thank you for the whales who teach us compassion, thank you for the sea otters who teach us about play. Through the element of water you teach me to follow a path of least resistance and to adapt to changing circumstances.
Spirit of the West, I thank you for showing me how to live within my own integrity and from a place of personal truth.
Spirit of the North, I thank you for your gifts of manifestation and sustenance. I honor your sacred wisdom and guidance. I honor your element of earth and your season of winter. On this day I am blessed by your constancy and balance. Thank you for the grounding presence of your large animals; the elephant, the bear, and elk. I honor the wolf who teaches us about intelligence combined with family instinct.
In the spirit of the mighty buffalo, I declare that we shall have strength in numbers, and that as a tribe we will protect and nurture one another. I declare that sustenance and prosperity is a birthright for us all.
Spirit of the North, I thank you for your treasures and endless generosity.
I close with acknowledgement of my Mother Earth and Father Sky, and connection to the directions of above and below. With gratitude for the opportunity to experience and express the blessings of this life.
