Conscious Relaxation CD!

For those of you who haven't been paying attention (or are new to this newsletter), I lead a guided form of meditation called Conscious Relaxation ("yoga nidra" in Sanskrit) at various places (see Events) whenever I can.  It's great because you don't have to have experience with meditation, yoga...or anything, really.  All you do is lie down on your back (or sit in a chair or against a wall) and listen as I guide you through a series of visualizations designed to relax your body and mind. Once that's done--not always an easy task!--you can get in touch with your "true self", listen for inner guidance or whatever you call it when you are able to harness your fullest creative potential.

Conscious Relaxation is helpful for everyone because we live in stressful times and this takes its toll.  This practice is particularly suitable for those who suffer from insomnia, anxiety, high blood pressure, heart disease, digestive disorders, sleep apnea, autoimmune disease, diabetes, cancer or any condition exacerbated by stress.  One session of Conscious Relaxation is said to be as restful as 4 hours of sleep.

The CD has two practices.  The short one (Love Lotus) is 20 minutes and the long one (Floating On The Infinite Ocean) lasts for 40 minutes.  Practicing Conscious Relaxation regularly, as often as once a day, can gradually and dramatically change your life.

The physical, tangible, real-life CD is available here and downloads are available here, on iTunes (I loved seeing my name come up on my iPod!), MusicOnlineAlive.com and on amazon.com.

Shout outs to: my brother Daniel who helped with the cover artwork and my cousin Peter who recently founded Music Online Alive.

Product News
· NEW PITTA OIL FORMULA
My original Pitta Oil formula contains such costly essential oils (rose, sandalwood, multani mitti attar) that I recently realized I lose money every time I sell a bottle.  Not a wise practice.  Due to this realization, I recently developed a new Pitta Oil that's just as effective and every bit as lovely but more reasonable to produce.  I use French lavender, a beautiful peppermint and a really, really great geranium.  (The old formula is still available in both massage oil and perfume oil formats.  It's now called Pitta Deluxe.)

· NEW MASSAGE OIL PRICING
I recently completed a pricing exercise and concluded that I now sell enough product that the prices of my raw materials have gone down.  Why not pass it on to you?  Dosha Massage Oils, excluding the aforementioned Pitta Deluxe, are now $25 for 8 oz., a reduction in price of $5.

· ITONE EYE DROPS
I recently attended the annual NAMA (National Ayurvedic Medical Association) convention where I was introduced to Itone ayurvedic eye drops.  They feel very similar to a mixture Dr. Lad makes himself.  My red, dry, computer-tired eyes are now cool, bright and hydrated!  I ordered them from India because I was so impressed.  I even use them with my lenses in without any trouble.

Just being honest:  Although it isn't a common reaction, I find these drops sting a little bit for a few seconds after putting them in.  My eyes, however, are exceptionally sensitive and I feel the little bit of "burn" is entirely worth it for once the sensation has gone away, my eyes look and feel incredibly clear and hydrated.  If I haven't scared you, look for Itone drops here.  The site says, "coming soon" but I saw online that the shipment has arrived at my office and, once I have them in my hands, I'll remove this from the site.  You can still place your order!

Natural Stress Busters
Dr. Christiane Northrup, one of my faves, recently wrote an article called "5 Natural Stress Busters".  If you're a regular reader or have hung out with me for more than 5 minutes, none of these will be new or surprising but they're worth re-visiting.

1.  She says:  Get more vitamin D.  I say: Look for oil-based formulations for easier absorption.

2.  She says:  Increase your levels of magnesium.  I say:  Eat a handful of sesame seeds daily and you'll be getting both calcium and magnesium in a bio-available form.

3.  She says:  Do something pleasurable every day.  I say:  I agree!

4.  She says:  Always breathe deeply and fully.   I say:  I wholeheartedly agree!  In fact, this and a little daily meditation can count as your "something pleasurable".

5.  She says:  Let flower essences calm your nerves.  I say:  Everyone should keep a bottle of Rescue Remedy nearby.  I hope Suzie G. is reading this because she teased me mercilessly for giving her and everyone around us Rescue Remedy in a time of great stress and sadness.  To her credit, she took the stuff and didn't fight it!
