Dear Fitness Friend and Life Enthusiast,
Greetings from Stockholm! All around me, spring is breaking through the Swedish winter - everything is in bloom!
I've been here for about three weeks now as I was picked to be the female
trainer for Sweden's Biggest Loser. I have another five weeks to go and
not only am I learning about human behavior in general, but I'm discovering much about Stockholm, which could easily win the beauty pageant of Most Gorgeous Cities. So far, my
favorite things include running along the water at Kungsholmen and the diversity
of languages and nationalities I encounter every single day! Wherever I am in the world, and wherever you are, I'm still answering your questions about nutrition, fitness, and body-mind health. Post your query on my website and let me know how I can help! In Biceps and Cartwheels,
Tanja D

Introducing Sara
This month I want to introduce you to my superstar friend Sara Haley, who has created a fab new program we're both involved with at Reebok.
I can't share the Reebok details just yet, but in the meantime, go check out Sara's excellent DVDs: Elle Beauty Sculpt with Brooklyn Decker and Reebok Cardio Tone, which is a great companion to my own Reebok Bootcamp DVD.
Sara's fitness philosophy is Change your body, change your workout, change your life! and I couldn't agree more! |
Loud Living Biggest Loser, Swedish Style
The Biggest Loser is a big phenomenon - not just in the US but worldwide. As contestants lose weight and compete for cash, viewers are riveted by their triumphs and struggles.
Joining versions of the show across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East is the new Biggest Loser Sverige (that's Sweden!). I'm honored to be a trainer on the show along with my colleague, the awesome Mårten Nylen. It's quite a journey - exciting, educational, rewarding, and above all inspiring!
For those of you in Sweden, you can read more about it at Metro and VF. The show will be broadcast on TV4 this fall.

Loud Eating Go Swedish!
Now that I'm back in Sweden for a couple of months, I am reminded of what a eye-opening experience it was when I first moved to America. As a health and fitness specialist, the biggest surprise to me was that even fit people who exercised daily had no clue about how to eat properly!
So, as part of my job, I started to teach clients how to eat a balanced diet. I introduced a "Swedish way of eating," also called "Go Swedish," in an effort to share a beneficial lifestyle with them. What does a typical Swedish menu look like, and how can you incorporate the principles into your own diet? To learn more, check out my article in American Fitness magazine.

First up, much appreciation for the amazing and talented photographer Felicity Murphy! Thanks also to Johny Saade and Cristophe for hair and make-up.
And finally, a big shout-out to Meter Television and the contestants from Sweden's Biggest Loser, who are totally blowing my mind!!
