Dear Fitness Friend and Life Enthusiast,
WHAAAAAAAAT?! It's already April,
but what happened to Q1?!
So many many things are happening on the
fitness horizon! I am going to Sweden to work on a project for two
whole months! I am so excited ... not
only because I will stay in Stockholm, which is one of the most beautiful cities
in the world, but I will be able to see my family and friends, and just the
thought of that makes my heart grow uncontrollably.
I want to go and
introduce fresh, new functional fitness to Sweden and I want to explore
what's new and happening there. That is definitely where you all come in - give me your ideas and tips on where to go, who to see, and
what to do when it comes to fitness or fun in Stockholm!
Also this month:
If you haven't picked your April-May workouts yet, Reebok
Boot Camp is out!! Try it and tell me what you think...
On the Living front, lately I have encountered some clear incidents of self-doubt in friends,
family, and also myself, and it has made me think about why it's so hard
to love oneself on a regular basis. Is it truly hard, or is that just something
we tell ourselves?
Finally, mind your mini meals, and beware the metabolic syndrome. Your BEST companion is a handful
of nuts and - you know it - egg whites! Mmm!
In Biceps and Cartwheels,

Reebok Boot Camp
I can honestly say the Reebok Boot Camp DVD is my favorite of all of the ones I have created! It is the perfect HOME workout and also the perfect INTERVAL workout!
As you know, calories are more effectively burned when doing interval training, and this workout, which is a bit harder than the others I have created so far, is one where you can progress from any level. It's also an amazing home workout, as you only use your own body weight and you don't need any gym machines. That gives you absolutely no excuses! It is designed to work your whole body - front, back, legs, and core - in a synergistic way, which just means that you are integrating your whole body simultaneously.
Now, I don't know what else you need... All I can say is, if this workout is making you feel uncomfortable, YOU ARE WELCOME!!! |
Loud Living Love Yourself
Why is love so difficult? Most of the
time, if you're a mom or a good friend or caretaker, it is not
difficult to give and show love to others ... but why, oh why is it so
difficult to show pure love towards yourself? Honestly, when was the
last time you thought, "I'm really grateful for myself and what I have
and can give," or, "Oooh, I look really good in that mirror!"?
Each and every one
of us is a unique human being, and we all have flaws and imperfections.
Sometimes it is easier to notice the bad things that others may point out. But, like Michael Jackson
sang, it starts with the Man in the Mirror. If you cannot work hard
on showing yourself love, how will you manifest yourself in the world? Remember
that you cannot take loving action from a place of negative emotion
such as hate or shame.
There are so many different ways to take care
of yourself lovingly! This includes respecting your body, your emotions, and your
desires. It means honoring yourself and taking action to reach your
fullest potential. This journey never ends ... we keep evolving. But somewhere along the path of self exploration,
the feeling of Self becomes stronger, motivating you to Live Loud! This
takes practice, nurturing, and an actual commitment to wanting to improve.
My friend Patricia Moreno has an amazing book called The IntenSati Method that, in a few simple
ways, guides you towards self-empowerment and self-knowledge. Give it a read!

Finally, remember the spike mat I told you about last month? Poking yourself with a "bed of nails" might not sound like the path to self-love, but I swear it will make you feel happy and relaxed! You can now find both the mat and a pillow for sale on my website.

Loud Eating Mini Meals
Have you heard of Syndrome X? Also known as Metabolic Syndrome, this is a combination of conditions - high blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess belly fat - that together increase your risk of heart disease, diabetes, and stroke. Not a pretty picture, huh?
I bring this up not to sound doom-and-gloom, but to share one way you can help prevent Metabolic Syndrome: by eating mini meals. Eating several small meals will increase your metabolism in the most efficient way and keep blood sugar levels even throughout the day. As a result, you'll also have more energy, burn more calories, and be able to build more muscle.
Always have breakfast and try to eat every 3 hours. Stick to whole grains, fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Examples of smart snacks are a handful of nuts, an apple, string cheese, or a small protein shake.
