Dear Fitness Friend and Life Enthusiast,
Welcome to 2010! After spending a nice ass-freezing/heart-warming vacation in Sweden, I am ready to get started
again.
I know that many of you are beginning the new year with a strong intention to create
a better and healthier YOU. With this mindset in place,
anything is possible! At the same time, I know from experience that one can go full-force pedal
to the metal until March, and then the motivation starts to wind down due to life, kids,
the economy, CNN... Where were we?!
My hope is that maybe, just maybe, I can help you take that intense feeling of wanting to make a change and create a long-lasting plan for the whole year. Can I help? And how?
As a start, check out the 10-Week Body-Mind Transformation on my blog.
Try it. Make a schedule that you will stick
to for at least five weeks - a psychological study tells us that is the amount of
time it takes for the body and mind to create a new habit. And simple common sense says, if you don't use it, you lose it.
In the next few months,
I will be expanding my website to offer more than just my blog. Keep your eyes and minds
OPEN! Also, for the Swedes, check out my new blog on MåBra. Let me know
if you like it and how I can help!
Remember, this
year can be all you want it to be!
In Biceps and Cartwheels,
Tanja D

Loud Fitness
Get FlexibleLet's start the new year with some stretching! Cardio and strength training often take center stage, but
did you know flexibility exercises are just as important in your fitness
routine? Regular stretching can increase your range of motion, improve balance
and posture, and reduce the risk of injury. It can even improve circulation and
relieve stress. And if that's not enough, it actually feels good!
To get started, check out these blog posts on flexibility, yoga, and Pilates, and then let me know how I can help!

Loud Eating Make A Fresh Start
There's no better time to do a detox than at the beginning of the year. Do you have to go on a month-long fast? Absolutely not!! You can detox naturally by just eating fruits and vegetables for about a week and, of course, drinking tons of water.
Try this easy detox juice for breakfast: 4 carrots 1/2 cup fresh spinach Handful flat leaf parsley 2-3 sticks celery Juice all ingredients, putting celery through last. Mix with water to taste or drink neat, your preference.
You can also go to AdvoCare to get my Detox 2010 kit with instructions. It's as easy as apple pie - without the crust!

Loud Love
The Monthly Love Fest
Back in September, I received an email from John Yen, who wanted to surprise his wife Regina Valderama
Yen with
a gift of health! He gave her a personal assessment and workout session
with me, and in December they drove to LA from Northern California, just to
see me! It was such a pleasure to be a part of the gift, so thank you
guys for making me a part of it!
Regina writes: Exercising gives
me an afterglow - a mixture of happiness, a sense of fulfillment, and
a feeling of being truly alive. I look forward to working out at the
end of each day because it is a time for me. It is what
I do for myself - to help me think of the good things, to let go of
the bad things, and to thank God for giving me good health and strength.
It also helps me appreciate the love from my family and friends. As
a physical therapist, I work with people who need encouragement - not
just to exercise but also to live a better life and to have a sense
of purpose. Although my work is often challenging, exercising daily
gives me the mental and spiritual balance necessary to give my patients
the best care that I am capable of. So, to answer your question: Is
exercise important in my life? The answer is a resounding and loud
YES!!!
Thank you also to Brett A. Bradley for your letter and all your hard work on YOU!!!
Brett writes: Tanja, you
continue to be a blessing to me! I hurt my back
(again) last year and the physical therapist recommended a balance ball
for rehab. It came with one of your Gaiam DVDs, and sat around the house
for a few months until I was bored one night and put in your DVD. I
did all 3 workouts that night, and loved it - your energy, and the movements
themselves. Since then, I've
purchased your core cross train DVD and after 16 weeks on it, I'm stronger,
in a more balanced way than I've ever been. I won't go on
and on... I've been wanting to express my gratitude to you for a while
now. Thank you! You rock! I love your work, and the beautiful essence
you postively radiate!
