This year's 24-7 Prayer Event goes back in time to the Old Testament prophets who spoke God's truth to His people in dramatic ways. What they prophesied and taught still speaks to us today.
The concept of 24-7 is this. Too often, we forget to pray. And when we do, it's a sugar daddy mentality we bring to it, asking God for what we need that very moment, considering nothing further in our brief and hurried prayer time.
Instead, 24-7 offers the opportunity to be intentional in our prayer time, offering at least one hour of our time to be spent with the One Who loves us and gave us the gift of prayer and answers above and beyond all we can think or ask.
At a 24-7 Prayer Room, participants find stations that lead them into prayers they might not otherwise think to pray, teaching them to expand their prayer life and helping them experience a deeper relationship with their Lord.

Forty Days of Prayer and Fasting for the Nation Beginning September 30 Cathy and Paul have not seen a time when they believe there has been a greater need for prayer for our nation than right now! So, for the next 40 days they will be praying and fasting for our nation. Would you join them? Here is the way it will work. Each Monday you will get an e-mail from the Prayer Team with some things to pray for during the week related to the nation. If you are willing, please include those concerns with the other things you are praying. How you choose to pray and/or fast is up to you. You can set a time each morning to pray over our nation or find a time each evening that works well for you. Fasts look different from person to person. Some people will not eat anything for a day. Others will give up a meal once a week. I have known of people giving up chocolate or TV for the period of the fast. If you decide to fast, choose something that will be a stretch and will prompt you to pray often. It will be exciting to see what God will do in answer to our prayers. |

Prayer at Glendale Touches
Raymond Kellis High School
This summer God opened doors that had seemed closed. For several years now, it has been difficult for Central's Glendale campus, even before affiliated with Central, to work with Raymond Kellis High School. But suddenly God moved and opened doors. Mike Fleming, Prayer's on staff volunteer in Glendale, explains that during August, the church received a call from an assistant principal at the high school. She was inviting churches to come and discuss praying for the school. Central's Glendale pastors met with her - the only church to respond to her request. She had prepared a list of the prayer needs for the staff and the school and provided us the names of the 125 staff members. So, the Glendale prayer warriors developed a prayer strategy. Members at that campus were asked to pray five minutes a day for 30 days for five members of the staff. Thirty-two members signed up, which meant that all 125 staff members were lifted up at least once a day in prayer for 30 days. They also handed out bookmarks that helped guide their prayer time. This season of prayer led to a relationship with Moms in Prayer, a great organization that has moms praying for schools and students. Now Moms in Prayer meets weekly at the Glendale campus to pray for the school, students, and teachers alike. Mike said a prayer-walking event is planned that will include parents and youth praying around the perimeter of Raymond Kellis High School. The assistant principal will be asked to invite staff to participate in the event as well. What seems impossible becomes possible and greater than we can even anticipate with God and prayer, Mike said. "We feel a little bit like Joshua must have felt when he reentered Israel and reclaimed the land over 400 years after the Israelites went to Egypt." "I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses." Joshua 1:3 |
Men's Challenge Prayer
By the time Central's men arrive at the Men's Challenge the last weekend of this month, the grounds and accommodations, programming, presenters, and participants all will have been prayed over by prayer warriors/prayer walkers.
Once sessions begin, a prayer room, manned by three or four guys willing to pray for other guys, will be available for all breaks and meals.
Sometimes guys come to the room because of something presented by the speaker in the session just before the break, explained Rick Safriet, leader of the prayer effort at the Men's Challenge and member of Central's Prayer Leadership Team. Sometimes they come because of something that happened just before they came up to the Challenge weekend: It might have been a job loss, or a bad diagnosis, or a relational problem that exploded.
"We've had years when only a few have come to the Prayer Room," he said, "and other years when we've had as many as 40 or 50 guys show up."
No matter how many come, he said, his team will be there -- just in case -- for anyone or any reason.

PRAYERS ANSWERED: IRANIAN PASTOR FREED FROM PRISON
Youcef Nadarkhani, a Christian pastor who was imprisoned and facing execution, has been acquitted and set free. He was initially arrested in 2009 and found guilty of apostasy in 2012. Nadarkhani was given opportunities to avoid prison and the death penalty if he openly renounced his faith in Christ, but he held fast to the faith. Now, after more than 1,000 days of imprisonment and much prayer by thousands of his brothers and sisters in Christ, he is out of prison and reunited with his family. Read the full story from The Guardian, and read more from the Christianpost.com. At persecution.org, you can read Pastor Nardarkhani's expressions of thanks to God and to those supporting him with prayer. You can also read more in another article at aclj.org.
SURVIVOR OF 9/11/01 RECALLS PRAYER ON THAT DAY
On the Sunday following the events of September 11, 2001 churches were packed. In the weeks and months that followed, people recognized and openly acknowledged our nation's dependence upon God. It's essential that we continue to recognize that dependence. One survivor recalls how he leaned very heavily upon the Lord to make it out alive: "My prayers continued, but now with a difference. For the most part, I stayed with the Lord's Prayer, but Jesus seemed so close, that I added specific prayers for those we passed. There was the overwhelming sense of the physical presence of Jesus. He was radiating that sense of love, compassion, and peace that I was feeling." Read the full story at washingtonpost.com

STUDENTS PROTEST PRAYER BAN BEFORE GAMES BY PRAYING
Students at Sissonvile High School in West Virginia have taken a stand against the ban on prayer before football games. It seems they disagree with what the folks at "Freedom from Religion" were attempting to accomplish and acted upon their freedom to speak out. After organizing through social media, they carried on a peaceful and powerful protest---they prayed out loud in unison. Read the story and watch the newscast at wsaz.com.
UTK DECIDES TO CONTINUE PRE-GAME PRAYERS

After reading this, remember that we need to pray that the enemies of Christ will come to the knowledge that He is Lord of Lords. Get the full story at usatoday.com
