Praying in Indonesia

By Tracy Richardson

Why would someone choose to go on a Prayer Trip when they are fearful about praying out loud? Well, for me, the answer is that I chose to go with a team on Central's recent Prayer Trip to Indonesia to pull myself out of my comfort zone, to push myself in my prayer life, and to not be fearful of praying out loud.

So why travel all the way around the world to do that? Couldn't I have done that here? Yes, it could have been done here, but going on a Prayer Trip is quite different. You are there in a new culture praying for the local people you meet, and praying for the global field workers who live there.  Also, you are exclusively with a team of people for two weeks, growing together, and bonding in prayer.

Of course,  when you are in a foreign country and praying for it, Satan attacks in unexpected ways. It may be easier to pray for a foreign area from a distance as you hear about it and pray about it from home. The attacks may not be there or may be more subtle. But when you bring the light to the darkness, Satan objects pretty quickly!

You may find yourself trying to pray over the loud noise of motorcycles continuously going by, making it sound like a motorcycle race, and then they stop once you finish praying; or trying to pray with a group of kids surrounding you, trying to get your attention. In some instances, you may find yourself being pulled in a different direction, and you begin to wonder what you should be doing in that moment, but you came to pray, and Satan wants to defeat you. He doesn't want you praying over areas where he has built a stronghold.

So, on a Prayer Trip to a foreign country, the team just needs to push through and be strong in their prayers. Scripture tells us: Do not give the devil a way to defeat you (Ephesians 4:27).

For too often, we become pretty comfy in our own ideas while sitting at home and praying from a distance.

So, I would recommend you think about a Prayer Trip in the future.  Call Central's office and ask for someone in the Prayer Ministry to tell you about the next Prayer Trip. The benefits of actually going and praying will have you seeing things in a new light. I've been on trips before where the purpose wasn't prayer.  On those trips, I didn't experience the spiritual warfare I did on this Prayer Trip.

But don't let that frighten you away from a Prayer Trip. There is such power in prayer! Remember:  I can do all things through Christ, because He gives me strength (Philippians 4:13).

Time for Tea

This set up is perfect for a recent quarterly women's E-accountability in-person gathering, but wouldn't fly for the men's steak fry. Men and women do it differently, but the outcome is the same: fun and effective accountability in disciplines for followers of Christ.  Read More Here

Read this story about a prayer for forgiveness.

D-DAY LANDING PRAYER ACT

During World War II, there was little debate about public prayer. It seems that most Americans realized that the Allies needed more than military strength to defeat those who believed it was their right to bring the entire world under their subjection.  Unfortunately, today there are carefully orchestrated efforts to erase prayer from the history of our nation.  The D-Day Landing Prayer Act will help ensure that future generations know that American leaders have called on God throughout our nation's history.  Read more.
