Be Ready to Pray...Who Knows What God Wants to Do?
God is moving! He answers prayer. He has plans and has His Church and people and events in place.
Some of you may already know some parts of this or maybe even more of this than I can include here, but Paul urged me to share with you all the incredible love and power and working of God through trials and faithful prayer and Central and His people shown in the story that follows.
 | Davis Vaughan |
From the time of the death of Davis Vaughan and Mike Hazel in a plane crash near Falcon Field, Larry and Ainslie Vaughan, friends of Mike and parents of Davis, have sought, from the pain and loss, to have God glorified and His name lifted and something good to come for people who didn't yet know Jesus as Lord and Savior.
So, Prayer Team folks have been

praying since that first call I got from Larry right after he heard his son and Mike had died that Tuesday morning.
Larry and Ainslie then asked for prayer for the funerals to touch hearts for the Lord. And of course, God's timing provided that many family members and friends came in for Easter, just before the funerals.
So, then the prayer request came from the Vaughans to specifically pray for the ones who didn't know Christ to be willing to come to Easter worship on Saturday night, and to have hearts and ears open to the message they would hear while at Central. Read More Here.

Be Still - A Week of Lessons in Prayer
Five men from Nebraska Christian College (NCC) left after a week in April at Central agreeing they hadn't fully realized the importance, power, and urgency of prayer until then. For them, their ministry trip here had been more than productive.
Each year, the college offers a ministry week away from the school. Some go to foreign lands and build houses, some teach at schools, and too many, according to Doctor Mark Huddleston, said they wouldn't do a Prayer Ministry week, because they wanted to "do" something.

Hard at work at Central, learning about doing Prayer ministry.
Two groups studying materials Paul presented.
|
That was enough to spark him into action, creating the Prayer Ministry trip that led four students and himself here to Central...where they "did" something powerful through prayer.
The five men, Dr. Mark, and students, Brad, John, Joey, and John spent the week with our Prayer Ministry team, praying and learning about prayer, and participating in various events like the Half Day in Prayer and leading the LIFT intercessory prayer night. The week was an eye-opening experience to their prayer life, and they said they are eager to start a prayer revolution back home. Read More Here.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
On May 3rd, Christians all across the United States will participate in private, public, and group prayer for our country. This year's theme is based on Psalm 33:12 which proclaims, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." Read more about it at the National Day of Prayer Website and in an article from wausaudailyherald.com .
NORTH KOREA: DAY OF PRAYER ON "DAY OF THE SUN"
Open Doors, a group that is committed to helping Christians stand strong against persecution, ranked North Korea as the most oppressive nation on its list of the 50 worst persecutors of Christians in the past ten years. As North Korea prepared to celebrate the 100th birthday of ruler Kim-II, Open Doors worked to get people praying for the nation's oppressed Christians. Read coverage at onenewnow.com and at Christianpost.com.
PUNK ROCK, RUSSIAN POLITICS AND A PRAYER RALLY IN MOSCOW
After decades of persecution under communist rule and more than its share of political battles and controversy, the Russian Orthodox Church is quick to defend itself against any attempts to degrade it. Tens of thousands attended a rally after a punk rock band staged a performance that appeared to mock the Church in front of an altar and posted a video of the stunt on You Tube. Some saw the rally as little more than a political maneuver. Others, however, believed that the church's motive was to pray for protection from the kind of anti-Christian ideologies that once threatened to destroy it. Read More in an article entitled, "Of Prayers and Rallies" and in an article from the New York Times.
PRAYER FOR THE VICTIMS OF SHOOTINGS
The recent series of shootings has brought our nation to its knees. Read an article regarding a prayer event following the shootings on the Oikos University campus. Watch a newscast and read an article from News9.com about a prayer service following the shootings in North Tulsa. Listen to a newscast at KSDK.com regarding one of the numerous prayer vigils held after the Trayvon Martin shooting and watch a You Tube video from a woman who offers encouraging words for Trayvon's family, reads Bible verses, and prays.
PRAYER IN REMEMBRANCE OF THE TITANIC
No doubt many passengers and crew members prayed on that crisp, clear April night in 1912 when the greatest ship in the world, the "unsinkable" ship, began to rapidly take on water. A century later, prayers were said over the area where the Titanic came to rest some 12,000 feet below the surface. Read more about it in a report from foxnews.
TEBOW INTERVIEWED BEFORE A CROWD OF 15,000 DURING EASTER SERVICE
Quarterback Tim Tebow continues to share his faith and pray in public; on Easter Sunday he was interviewed by Pastor Joe Champion. Watch a video clip and read all about it.

Central Ordains Cathy Cryer
On Sunday, April 29, Paul Covert gave the charge to serve and Central Elders ordained Cathy Cryer as a pastor.
She said she went through the ordination process to become a pastor especially in order to be able to take God's love and grace to people who want prayer in hospitals and nursing homes. Since new laws were put into place to protect people's privacy, such places now may stop visitors from reaching patients if they are not family members or pastors. On several occasions since being on staff at Central, there were people who wanted or needed prayer, and because she was not family or a pastor, Cathy was stopped from going to pray with them.
"It's amazing if God chooses to use me," Cathy said, "and when He does, I never want to be stopped from praying with people who want and need prayer again."
What else God may have in mind for her through this ordination, she does not yet know, but she would appreciate your prayers for her to step out in faith and obedience to His call.
