Why Go to all the Trouble of Having a

School of Prayer?

For You!  That's right ... for YOU!

It is our hope that the Schools of Prayer will:

1)     Provide Inspiration.  We often bring in nationally known speakers solely for the purpose of inspiring you and giving you a shot in the arm that energizes your prayer life.  Which one of us can't use that?  This quarter's speaker is Dennis Fuqua who is guaranteed to do just that. He literally speaks almost every weekend of the year somewhere in the U. S. on the subject of prayer. We are blessed that he has consented to join us from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, in Higher Grounds Cafe on the Mesa Campus.

2)   Aid in Training.  All of us can learn more effective ways to pray and different models of prayer. I love to get a new insight or model prayer to experiment with during Schools of Prayer. We know you will too and that it will provide you with new and fresh insights that will benefit your prayer life.

3)   Encourage Practice.  There is no safer and better place to experiment with prayer. There is a crisis in America in prayer. Many Americans are uncomfortable praying and get embarrassed when the subject comes up.  That's why the School of Prayer is so valuable, because it is made up of people who are all learning about and practicing prayer. Since we are all growing in prayer at the same time, it is the perfect place to try new things in prayer.

4)     Transmit to Others.   Attending a SOP teaches me tools and methods that I then can transmit to others.  My life group, my mentoring relationships, and personal conversations all are improved by the new things I learn at the SOP.

Ok I know you are wondering how I can sign up?

Use this link to register: REGISTER HERE!

Do I have to register?

Yes so we can make sure we have enough materials.

Is there a chance that it will "sell out?"  Yes we already have the strongest response we ever have had for a SOP, so please take a moment now and sign up at the link above so your spot is secure.

Prayer Offers Opportunities

to Serve and Watch God Work!

 Wanted Ad

Rod Ervin has served in lots of roles at Central, but says he's found his very favorite in being a Prayer Partner!

Working both the Mesa and Gilbert campuses for a variety of servant minister tasks, he has landed as a Gilbert Prayer Partner for the new Saturday night service there, and for the earliest two out of three Sunday morning services as well!

He loves being available for people in need and going with them to the Lord to seek His will and healing or help for them, and then seeing how God answered when the people come back to praise and thank God for that answer.  It fills Rod up pouring himself out and seeing God at work.

His reaction is indicative of what most Prayer Partners would say. Read More Here.

100 YEAR-OLD MOM RECEIVES ANSWER TO PRAYER

Throughout history, women in troubling circumstances have had to make the difficult decision to hand over their children to those who were in a better position to care for them. Seventy-seven years ago a woman named Minka Disbrow allowed her child to be adopted and for good reason.  Although it was in her baby's best interest, she often wondered about her and longed to see her. "Lord, if you would just let me see her," Disbrow remembers praying. "I promise you I will never bother her."  Read an article at boston.com and another article at nationalrighttolifenews.org.

PRAYER POINTS FOR 2012

PRAYER WALKS TO END STREET VIOLENCE

Two recent homicides in Omaha prompt prayer walkers to continue their efforts.  As they walk through troubled neighborhoods and pray, they recruit leaders who are willing to "own their streets" and help prevent crime.  An organizer of the prayer walks, said, "We're finding that on a city level we cannot control the violence, the police can't do it alone, no one group can do it alone." Read the article and watch the news report from KPTM, Omaha.

DR. KING IS REMEMBERED AS ONE WHO KNELT BEFORE THE KING OF KINGS

Last month's Martin Luther King Day inspired many Americans to reflect on his great leadership abilities, courageous actions, inspiring speeches, and the fact that he sacrificed his life to carry on the battle for civil rights. An article from the Huffington Post provides insight into King's prayer life. Author, Rev. Dr. Luke Powdrey, Assistant Professor of Homiletics at Princeton Theological Seminary writes, "King organized. King marched. King preached. King prayed. It is the latter that is not usually discussed when we talk about the legacy of Dr. King." Read more.

THE SEARCH FOR A MISSING GIRL - A SEARCH BACKED BY PRAYER

Sometime during the night of January 1, Hannah Smith went missing. It's suspected that this 16-year-old girl met someone through the internet and then ran off to meet that person.  WNYT of Albany NY reports that the efforts of local police and FBI agents are backed by prayer. SOME THOUGHTS ON GETTING ALONE TO PRAY

The Bible makes it clear that it's important to pray together with other Christians. However, the Bible also makes it clear that it is important to pray alone. Read Prayer - Time with God from crosswalk.com

PRAYER TO FORGIVE THIEVES

Forgiveness! The Lord's Prayer makes it clear that forgiving others is essential when seeking His forgiveness for our sins. It's only fitting then, a Florida church is practicing what it preaches after copper thieves wrecked their AC. Read and watch more WINK news.
