Throughout history, women in troubling circumstances have had to make the difficult decision to hand over their children to those who were in a better position to care for them. Seventy-seven years ago a woman named Minka Disbrow allowed her child to be adopted and for good reason. PRAYER WALKS TO END STREET VIOLENCE
Two recent homicides in Omaha prompt prayer walkers to continue their efforts. As they walk through troubled neighborhoods and pray, they recruit leaders who are willing to "own their streets" and help prevent crime. An organizer of the prayer walks, said, "We're finding that on a city level we cannot control the violence, the police can't do it alone, no one group can do it alone."
