Dean Trune

School of Prayer

Sunday, October 16 from 2-6 p.m.
Mesa Campus, Higher Grounds Café

Dean Trune, a nationally-recognized leader on the subject of prayer, who teaches all over the nation and world, will be our guest presenter for the October School of Prayer.

Central's Prayer Ministry offers the School of Prayer quarterly to provide information on relevant prayer topics as well as opportunity to implement what you've learned.

Dean has appeared here at Central in several venues previously, including other Schools of Prayer, and has been a favorite with Central audiences.  He graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's in engineering, well prepared for a career at General Motors. After 12 years with GM, however, Dean's heart turned to ministry, and he became campus minister at Michigan State, where he served for the next 11 years. Since 1995, Dean has led Impact Ministries International (www.ImpactingTheWorld.com), establishing campus ministries around the world and conducting seminars to help people connect with God more intimately.

His presentation will include

  • Prayer Health Assessment: How to Assess My Prayer Health
  • How to Organize My Prayer Life In Order to Join Jesus in His Mission
  • Listening to God

A snack and  study materials are provided FREE, but registration is required. No child care is available for the Schools of Prayer. A love offering will be taken.   Register Here
24-7 logo

Though this is the sixth year we will be offering Central a 24-7 Prayer experience (actually lasting longer than seven days), we have several firsts this year: 1) We will move the 24-7 to four campuses, and 2) In Queen Creek, our venue will be outside!

Each year, God has used it to touch more lives and blessed it with more rave reviews. You don't want to miss being a part of what He will do this year!

The theme this year comes from the New Testament Book of James. Nine stations will direct your prayer from a focus on verses and teachings found in James. The last stop in the 24-7 Prayer Room will be for blogging your experience. Each interactive station will be created to help you think and pray in new ways. During the hour you commit to pray, you enter each station and do what the station directs for prayer and meditation or activity. In the process, you will find yourself entering into a richness of prayer and relationship with God that most people don't often reach.

In previous years, even those who have admitted to never having prayed more than five minutes at a time before came away amazed at the impact of an hour spent in prayer and conversation with the Lord. Just one hour can make a meaningful difference in your relationship with God and in the areas on which you focus your prayers. Here's the line up of times and locations from which you may choose: Read More Here.

Eleven 11 Team 01

Prayer at Eleven 11

Prayer must be missional.  What do I mean by that?  Well.... many times God places something in our hearts to pray about; maybe a loved one or something we believe should happen.  But praying by itself may not be enough.  Sometimes God wants us to pray and act.

That is exactly what happened at ASU not long ago.  The students had been praying for the campus and that God would reclaim ASU.  They even did several 24-7's, some as long as 50 days, seeking God for ASU.

One of the female students began to sense that God wanted her to pray for a permanent place to house the 24-7.  The reason this was so critical was that although they were allowed to do the 24-7's, they were not given a consistent location.  They had to move the event from one spot to another on campus -sometimes even multiple times.  This made it hard to publicize and difficult for students to attend.

So they prayed for weeks and then acted.  They found out the schedule of the president of the of the school and looked for a place where they could approach him on the topic.   They found a specific day that he used a certain elevator and they moved.  The student got on the same elevator and had just 35 seconds to make her pitch, which she did.  The President agreed to give the Christian students a consistent place to have their 24-7 prayer for the campus.

Eleven 11 TeamEleven 11 was a missional event.  It was an opportunity to bring students and adults together to pray for transformation in our schools and communities.  It gave us the unique opportunity to pray in 11 pubic schools across the state of Arizona for 26 hours in each school.  There were worship bands, times of prayer, and even times of service where we did projects around the school, giving us the chance to share the love of Christ.

It is time for prayer to get beyond our church walls and get out into the schools, work places and class rooms in our communities.  Eleven 11 was a great start at this and I am glad we had the chance to be involved.

A 9/11 PRAYER THAT A MARINE WOULD FIND SURVIVORS IN THE RUBBLE OF THE TOWERS

This remarkable story was published some months after 9/11. Written in it there is a key line that makes it very clear that prayer makes a difference: "Then he drove to church. THE DAY AFTER 9/11: MAX LUCADO RECALLS A NATION AT PRAYER

In this article at foxnews.com, Christian author Max Lucado writes, "Ironic. Osama Bin Laden intended to bring America to her knees, and he did-we prayed."  Take a moment to Read the full article; it reminds us how important prayer was during the days that followed the horrific events of 9/11/2001-hopefully, it also motivates us to say a prayer of thanks to our Lord for His protection from our enemies-and to pray that our nation will turn to Him now, as we did then.
