Prayer Isn't Just On Knees Anymore!Text Me a Prayer

Thinking prayer is just too old fashioned for you, now that you are a techie person of 2011?

Think again.

Central's Prayer Team is moving out to reach people with prayer in arenas not usually thought of as prayer closet settings.  Think technology, not clothing and a closet door.

For instance, if you aren't a late-arriver for worship services at Central but get seated before the service begins, take note of the messages on the screens. One slide is of a phone number to which you may text a prayer request that then will be prayed in the Prayer Room during the worship service!  Of course, Prayer Partners will also still be available up front after the worship service, but texting your prayer request is another option.

The text prayers go to cell phones in the possession of Paul Covert, Prayer Pastor, or Cathy Cryer, Associate Director of Prayer. If they receive the request during the worship service, they will relay the request to the team of pray-ers in the Prayer Room with them and it will be prayed for immediately. Some requests come after the worship service; some even come during the week. Read More Here

Up-LIFT-ing Prayer

May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of

my hands be like the evening sacrifice. Psalm 141:2

Spotlight

Do you sometimes feel like you're stuck in a rut of repeating the same prayers over and over? Do you wonder if you're missing something when you pray? Are you even feeling a little bored

with your prayers and wondering if God might be bored too?

If you'd like to recharge your prayer life, LIFT on Thursday night might be the answer you're looking for.

LIFT is praying with others for many things - a lift of prayers, concerns, and united hearts to God mid-week.

"Topics vary week to week and sometimes we just stay in praise," said Cathy Cryer, Central's Associate Prayer Director. "Sometimes we pray for a team or event at Central, and sometimes we focus on more global, Kingdom concerns." The first Thursday of each month the group joins Underground Faith in praying for persecuted Christians around the world. Read More Here

PRAYER ONTHE D-DAY MEMORIAL?

During a radio broadcast on June 6, 1944, on the evening of the D-DAY invasion, President Franklin D. Roosevelt offered a prayer on behalf of those who were facing the enemy.  Considering that there are so many concerted efforts to erase the prayers of our forefathers from our nation's history, you might want to read this article from the Columbus Dispatch and pray about the possibility of including a passage from Roosevelt's prayer on the D-Day memorial. The article includes the portion of the prayer that would be included on the memorial. Click here to read the entire prayer.
