Mark Batterson Interview |

Mark Batterson, Elevate speaker, shares this personal mantra:
"I'd rather have one God idea than a thousand good ideas. I believe that God can accomplish more with one prayer than years of planning. That doesn't mean we shouldn't work like it depends on us. Prayer isn't an excuse for laziness.
"But prayer is where miracles happen!"
One of our two speakers for this year's Elevate Prayer Conference February 18 and 19, Mark shared that core belief during an interview recently, explaining the excitement and passion for prayer he will bring to the conference. Read Mark's Interview Here

Elevate Worship Leader -
Moi Navarro

For Moi Navarro, aka "Moi", while growing up music was never too far from home and a guitar was always within reach since both of his parents were singer songwriters in the early 1970's. Moi is an independent artist with ten successful years in the music industry. Based in Riverside, California, over the years Moi has gained a prominent fan base that reaches regional, statewide, nationwide, and worldwide. His diversity is more than just skin-deep, as his music is interwoven with influences of funk, rock, soul, folk and jazz. Moi's ballads are emotional and heartfelt as they tell a story and invoke tremendous feeling, portraying sincere transparency, letting you see into his soul. Music to Moi is best described as a marriage. "Marrying a set of meaningful lyrics with an intense, unique and beautiful melody is the key to a great song".
Moi has earned a massive grassroots following through hard work, determination, and consistent touring throughout the years. MOI continues to grow, and is blessed that through every stage people have been touched and encouraged by his music. He reaches a wide spectrum audience with his passionate music, straight-forward lyrics, and unique stories. Being able to communicate with others how he feels inside through his music comes second nature to him, it just flows.

Prayer Commitment to CityFest Update
The Prayer Ministry team at Central has committed to two areas of involvement with CityFest:
1. Praying for the event ahead of time.
2. Praying in a tent at the event with participants and guests.
Covering the event with prayer early on means many of the hundreds of churches involved with CityFest are committing to 24-7 times of prayer just for the success of the outreach for God's Kingdom!
Central Prayer has committed to four 24-7 days of prayer. They are:
Thursdays, February 24, March 3, 10, and 17.
Pray-ers may pray wherever they are, though there also will be prayer for CityFest at each LIFT Prayer meeting those Thursday nights at 7 p.m. in Mesa's Starting Point Room.
Specific prayer requests include:
- Pray for decisions for Christ
- Pray that each person that makes a decision gets connected to a person and eventually to a church.
- Pray for those who come to the tent for prayer. Pray that we are ready for the needs God brings our way.
- Pray that people will bring their friends to this event
- Pray for good weather
- Pray for the logistics to go smoothly
- Pray for God's blessing
- Pray for a movement of God, not an event
Pray-ers in the tent during the CityFest will be available for prayer with any of the thousands of people who will attend the outreach as well as for prayer for God to move and touch lives.
If anyone would like to serve a two-hour shift in the prayer tent at Tempe Town Lake, the hours will be from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 19 and 20. For further information, contact Cathy Cryer at 480.924.4946 ext. 234 or cathy.cryer@centralaz.com

Mountain Top Prayer 2011-
Sunrise at Usery Park- Wind Cave Trail
As the New Year dawned over the East Valley, a team of prayer warriors from two churches hiked and prayed. Here is their report.
What a blessing and privilege it was to link up the community of prayer warriors from Central Christian Church and City of Grace Church to usher in the New Year! That team of 13 pray-ers, with a cry of, "As One," pushed back all that hinders our prayers.

As we hiked and after we reached our destination up the mountain, we were able to corporately bathe in prayer areas of Arizona government, the new Arizona legislature, businesses, the unemployment problem, Christians in the market place, finances, our churches, families, marriages, and education.
Although some of our team arrived at the top exhausted at the end of the 45-minute trek, God ensured that there was enough spiritual reserve to power our shivering bodies -- yes it was 35 degrees at 7:30 a.m. There were times when I thought some were praying in tongues, but it could have been chattering teeth! At the end of 30 minutes of intense focused prayer, we finished once more with a jubilant victorious shout of "As One" and headed back down, knowing that the joy of the Lord is our strength and entrusting 2011 for Arizona, our families, and our churches, to the plans of the Lord. | | |

GOOD ADVICE ABOUT PRAYER
Below is an article from Bradenton.com that was published in response to a woman who sought advice on how she might keep her mind from wandering during prayer.
Make Prayer A Daily Habit
I know I ought to pray more, but when I try to pray, my mind starts wandering and after a while I just give up. I know I shouldn't be like this, but how can I keep my mind focused? -- Mrs. L.F.
Prayer is one of the greatest privileges God has given to us, and God is pleased when we come to Him in prayer. Just as parents delight in the talk of their children, so God delights when we talk to Him in prayer.
That's why the first step in making prayer a part of our lives is to realize that God loves us, and wants us to come to Him in prayer. How do we know this? We know it because God sent His only Son into the world to give His life for us, so our sins could be forgiven and we could be with Him in heaven forever. If you have never asked Jesus Christ to come into your life, I urge you to do so today.
Did you ever learn the Lord's Prayer? (You can find it in Matthew 6:9-13.) It begins with these words: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed (or honored) be your name" (Matthew 6:9). And that's who God is: our heavenly Father, who gave us life and watches over us and loves us. Once you see God as your loving heavenly Father, your prayers will never be the same.
When you pray, thank God for Who He is and what He has done for you -- even that day. Then bring your requests to Him, both for yourself and for others -- and make them specific. Many find it helpful to keep a written list of these requests, not only so they don't forget them, but so they can thank God when He answers them.

PRAYER-IN-THE-WALL APP
For centuries, Jewish and Christian pilgrims have journeyed to Jerusalem to the Western Wall, which is a remaining portion of the wall that once surrounded the Temple's courtyard. There, in keeping with ages of tradition, many write prayers on small slips of paper. They then wedge their written prayers into the ancient wall's cracks and fissures. Now, iPhone™ users from anywhere in the world can have a prayer placed in the Western Wall without making a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. Read more.
PANCAKES VS. PRAYER LAWSUIT DROPPED
In a previous newsletter we provided a link to an article regarding a trademark infringement lawsuit between the International House of Prayer and the International House of Pancakes (see below). According to an article at glendalenewspress.com, the two have decided to settle out of court. Read More.

PRAYER, PANCAKES AND LAWSUITS
This might be interesting topic to discuss at the next men's prayer breakfast. Well, maybe not. What do you think of when you see or hear the acronym "IHOP?" Are you thinking "pancakes?" Or, are you thinking "prayer?" The International House of Pancakes, commonly referred to as "IHOP," has recently filed a lawsuit against the International House of Prayer, which is also known as IHOP. It will be interesting to see how this case pans out. Read more.

All Things Are Possible...With God
Their trip to Italy was around the corner when Donna Ingraham said to her husband Karl (worship pastor at Central), "I have this knot on my neck, can you feel it?"
He felt it but didn't think too much of it because it was tiny. They kept an eye on it, and as it began to get bigger, they decided to seek medical advice. Read More Here |
