24-7 Movement Sweeping World

Comes to Central in November

"Prayer changes things," Pete Greig proclaimed during the recent Prayer Quake here in Mesa. Greig hails from England and unexpectedly founded the 24-7 movement which now is sweeping the globe. Central will join the movement again this year with a 24-7 prayer time from 7 a.m. Saturday, November 13, to noon Saturday, November 20. (Sign up for an hour or more on the Prayer Walls in Mesa or Gilbert beginning Oct. 23.)

Pete provides proof to back up his statement:

*At the Mesa event, Pete said he was approached by a 41-year-old former soldier who returned from the Middle East with serious back injuries. Doctors had told him he would just have to live with the pain. He went to a 24-7 prayer room where he was prayed over for healing, and God answered with healing!

Before we know it, winter will be here with cooler temperatures; we'll have Thanksgiving and Christmas and then New Year's Day--all great celebrations to look forward to in the coming months. With the New Year comes an opportunity to jump start and deepen your prayer life: the Elevate Prayer Conference Friday and Saturday, February 18 and 19, 2011. So, mark your calendars now!

For this year's Elevate, two prayerful speakers, Mark Batterson and Bob Bakke, will take the stage, lending their expertise and knowledge to enlighten us and cultivate in us the love and need for prayer.

Route 66Speedy Trip Along Route 66

For a quick, two-hour overview of the major people, geographical locations, and themes of either the Old Testament or New Testament, or both, women will be able to sign up for a class Cathy Cryer will be teaching at Stepping Stones in Gilbert. Cathy is Associate Director of Prayer and feels strongly the connection between the power of prayer and God's Word. Come and catch that connection in two hour segments for each the Old and New Testaments.

The Old and New Testaments will be presented consecutively for those preferring to attend evening sessions, Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Oct. 19 and 26.

For those for whom daytime would be better, the consecutive presentations will be on Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m., Oct. 21 and 28.

Classes will be held in the Elementary building Lodge side.

To register, go to Central's website, under Connect, Adults, Women, Stepping Stones, and Route 66 overview.

CAN PRAYER INCREASE IVF SUCCESS?

The Bible includes at least four stories about women who desired to have children but could not: Sarah and Abraham, in Genesis 11; Issac and Rebekah, in Genesis 25; Jacob and Rachel, in Genesis 29; and Zechariah and Elizabeth, in Luke 1. Most likely, each of these women had prayed for a child on more than one occasion and in each case, God intervened.  But in today's world, with science offering fertility options that were once impossible, is prayer still a key factor in the fertility success rate?  A recent study published in the Journal of Reproductive Medicine yielded some fascinating results! PRAYER, PANCAKES AND LAWSUITS

This might be interesting topic to discuss at the next men's prayer breakfast.  Well, maybe not.  What do you think of when you see or hear the acronym "IHOP?"  Are you thinking "pancakes?"  Or, are you thinking "prayer?" The International House of Pancakes, commonly referred to as "IHOP," has recently filed a lawsuit against the International House of Prayer, which is also known as IHOP. It will be interesting to see how this case pans out. Read more.

ANOTHER CASE ABOUT PRAYER DURING A PUBLIC MEETING

According to Judge Roy Moore and The Foundation for Moral Law, the Indian River School Board in Delaware is not violating the constitution by opening its meetings with prayer.  Judge Moore declares, "It is time that we come to the realization that prayer to Almighty God is not now, nor has it ever been, unconstitutional." The article from Christian Newswire includes a link to the foundation's  brief in Doe v. Indian River School District. Read more.
