For the past 5 years, the second weekend in September has found the All Service Oil Group at the largest snowmobile race/swap meet in the upper-midwest. And September 11 & 12 will find us, once again, at the Sno Barons Hay Days Grass Drags. The All Service Oil - AMSOIL group will be at site number CA4 (refer to map below). Industry News:
Experts recommend less frequent oil changes
from NBC News
New research is posing another way to save money.
When it comes to changing the oil in our cars, many, if not most of us,
change oil every 3,000 miles or so, just to make sure it's running tip
top. But experts say drivers don't need to change oil every 3,000 miles
as suggested. Instead, they can wait at least 6,000 miles between
changes. Based on new research, analysts at the respected automotive research
firm Edmunds.com now say that overly frequent oil changes are wasteful.
"The upshot was that you could end up changing your oil three times more
often than you need to and end up spending over the course of, say,
five years, over $1,000 dollars in unnecessary oil changes,"
Edmunds.com editor Karl Brauer said. Local mechanics will probably agree. "Changing your oil every 3,000 miles is overdoing it," mechanic Gary Kirston said. Brauer said, "The quality of oil has improved so much in recent decades
and not to mention the technology of vehicles to monitor the condition
of the oil has also improved." Edmunds.com sent oil from a car that had already lasted 7,000 miles to a laboratory for analysis.
"And they said, 'Yeah, this was probably good for another 2,000 miles worth of oil life,'" Brauer said. Some car manufacturers go so far as to recommend oil changes every 20,000 miles, which Edmunds' research doesn't dispute. Mechanics and other automotive experts also say using the more expensive
synthetic oil can justify longer waits between oil changes.
AMSOIL has been recommending drain intervals of 25,000 or 1-year since 1972. The oil industry is starting to catch with "The First in Synthetics". Click here to read more about AMSOIL's extended drain intervals.

Dealer News:
AMSOIL Dealer Sales Blog
The
purpose of this blog is to help carry out the vision of the AMSOIL
Dealer Sales Department: "AMSOIL products in every garage and
knowledgeable and successful AMSOIL Dealers in every town."
As
this blog stated last week, the 2010 Fall Sales Meetings will be here
before you know it. Summer has flown by and now it is time to start
thinking about the changes of the seasons, as well as the changes we
will see in this industry at the end of 2010 and beginning of 2011. The
blog also stated that "we constantly monitor the condition of the
lubrication industry. In order to maintain our position at the forefront
of the synthetics market, we regularly examine trends and refer to past
experience in order to determine which markets to focus on and how to
proceed with product development." Well, are you ready to attend? Here
are just two of the topics we will cover.
