Dear :

The warm weather this week is a reminder of how close we are getting to the 2010 farmers market season. Opening day is on June 12. Although many people are just now starting to think about summer produce, the farmers market organizing committee and all of the market vendors have been hard at work for many months getting ready for the market season. In an upcoming newsletter, we will announce our vendors for the 2010 season. Most of the regular vendors from last season will be returning, and we expect some exciting new vendors to round out the product offerings at the market.

As the organizing committee has planned for 2010, we have benefited from all of the great feedback customers provided on our 2009 season survey. Thank you to everyone who responded and gave such detailed, helpful comments and suggestions about the market. Congratulations to the raffle winners, chosen at random from the survey respondents: Gloria Legvold, Randy Bairnsfather, and Victoria Hopcroft. They all won a Winchester Farmers Market mug.

The Winchester Farmers Market will have a table at Town Day on June 5. Stop by the table to get more information about the market. The market manager and members of the organizing committee will be available to answers your questions and give away some free farmers market logo items.

Last year, many Winchester residents helped promote the market by displaying a lawn sign. We hope to expand the visibility of the market this year with more lawn signs. See below for details about how to get a farmers market sign for your lawn.

We look forward to seeing you at the market on opening day on June 12 and throughout the 2010 season!

Sincerely,
Winchester Farmers Market Organizing Committee

Support the Farmers Market by Displaying a Lawn Sign

A special opportunity is available to support the farmers market during the 2010 season by displaying a lawn sign in your yard to help promote the market. You can pick the design with your favorite vegetable from examples shown above.

We are looking for several people who live in Winchester or surrounding towns who would be willing to display a lawn sign on their property from Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon each week during the market season. If you would be willing to have a sign in your yard but do not want to have to remember to put it out every week, we will arrange to have a volunteer put out the sign on Friday afternoon and remove it on Saturday afternoon. All you have to do is make a few inches of lawn space available!

If you are interested in supporting the market by displaying a lawn sign, contact us at info@winchesterfarmersmarket.org to let us know which vegetable you would like to have on your sign.

Thank you to everyone who displayed a sign in 2009. We hope you will display your sign again in 2010!

Environmental Fair Volunteers Needed

Many of you enjoyed the environmental fair at the market in October last year. We are again planning to hold an environmental fair at the market, and we need volunteers to help plan for the fair. An organizational meeting will be held at the Winchester Public Library on May 24 at 7:00 pm. The meeting is open to anyone who wants to learn more about getting involved in planning this year's environmental fair.

Please contact us at info@winchestermarmersmarket.org if you plan to attend the meeting or if you would like more information about volunteer opportunities for the environmental fair.
