Greetings!

Welcome to the October 10 issue of the Winchester Farmers Market newsletter.

If you missed the launch of WinCentral during last week's market, you will have another chance this week to find out about WinCentral and sign up.

Ed Silivia of E. L. Silvia Farm (one of our regular farmers market vendors) has generously donated ears of corn, which we will be roasting at the market for everyone to enjoy. Anyone who tried some of Ed's roasted corn two weeks ago at the market knows that this is a treat not to be missed!

Mark your calendars for October 24, we there will be an environmental fair at the market, and for November 21, when an indoor farmers market will be held with many of your favorite market vendors.

A member of the Ginn Playground Restoration Committee ("BeGINN Again") will be at the market manager's tent this week to sell custom-designed "Winchester" classic tote bag from Vineyard Vines. Also stop by the market manager's tent to buy a Winchester Farmers Market T-shirt. See below in this newsletter for information about how you can get other great farmers market logo items, including canvas bags, mugs, and framed prints.

You can check the farmers market website for additional information about the market, including vendor profiles, frequently asked questions, and the schedule for artists, entertainers, and community groups. Visit the website for Sustainable Winchester, the sponsor of the farmers market, to get information about current projects, monthly meetings, and volunteer opportunities.

Try to bring your own shopping bags to the market, and please ride your bike or walk to the market if you can. If you drive, park your car in the Aberjona or Shore Road lot to leave parking spaces surrounding the common open for short-term parking near downtown businesses. The Aberjona lot, which runs along the commuter rail track across from the post office, is free on weekends, including the permit spaces in the end of the lot.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday on the common.

Sincerely,
Winchester Farmers Market Organizing Committee

Ginn Playground Restoration Fundraiser

A member of the Ginn Playground Restoration Committee ("BeGINN Again") will be at the market manager's booth at the market this week to sell custom-designed "Winchester" classic tote bag from Vineyard Vines. The tote bags features a pattern of town signs in silk, highlighting the different neighborhoods of Winchester and are designed to be a hometown holiday gift for teachers, babysitters, and any current or former Winchester residents.

All profits from the sale of the bags will benefit the renovation of Winchester's playground at Ginn Field. Bags are $85 and are also available at Winchester retailers T. Michaels, Elegant Affair, and Bookends. Supplies are limited, and the stock is expected to sell out quickly. This one-of-a kind tote bag will be a real conversation piece, and show your Winchester town sprit.  Winchester neighborhoods featured on the bag include: The Flats, East Hill, Rangeley, Winchester Highlands, West Side, Myopia Hill, and Symmes Corner.

To kick off fundraising activities for the BeGinnAgain Playground Restoration Project, BeGINNAgain will host a free outdoor party at Ginn Playground on October 17 (Raindate October 18) from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
This will be a great event for the whole family.

The restoration of the playground at Ginn Field is being spearheaded by the GINN Playground Restoration Committee, which represents a collaboration between the Winchester Neighbors Club (WNC) and a group of concerned Winchester parents.  The Winchester Neighbors Club is registered as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. A separate fund has been established by the WNC for the GINN Playground Restoration Project and all contributions are tax deductible.  More information on the Ginn Playground Restoration project and ways to donate or volunteer can be found at www.beGINNagain.com or on the Facebook Group "BeGINN Again."

Mass Farmers Markets Urban Barn Dance and Harvest Supper

The second annual Urban Barn Dance and Harvest Supper, sponsored by the Federation of Massachusetts Farmers (FMFM) markets will take place on October 16 in Cambridge.

After supper, contra caller David Titus will lead dancing to music from Sean Smith and friends. The event will also feature a silent auction with lots of great prizes from local businesses
