Join us for the Winchester Farmers Market
Saturdays, 9:30 - 1:30, Town Common |
Greetings!
Welcome to the September 26 issue of the Winchester Farmers Market newsletter.
Lots of fun things will be happening at the market this week. Wright-Locke Farm will be at the market for the Squash-A-Thon weigh-in. Come find out how who grew the biggest blue hubbard squash in Winchester!
Ed Silivia of E. L. Silvia Farm (one of our regular farmers market vendors) has generously donated ears of corn, which we will be roasting at the market for everyone to enjoy. Anyone who tried some of Ed's roasted corn last year at the market know that this is a treat not to be missed!
Mark your calendars for October 24, we there will be an environmental fair at the market, and for November 21, when an indoor farmers market will be held with many of your favorite market vendors.
Stop by the market manager's tent to buy a Winchester Farmers Market T-shirt and to support the Rotary Club by entering their 50/50 raffle--the winner will get 50 percent of the proceeds of the raffle. See below in this newsletter for information about how you can get other great farmers market logo items, including canvas bags, mugs, and framed prints.
You can check the farmers market website for additional information about the market, including vendor profiles, frequently asked questions, and the schedule for artists, entertainers, and community groups. Visit the website for Sustainable Winchester, the sponsor of the farmers market, to get information about current projects, monthly meetings, and volunteer opportunities.
Remember that the market will take place rain or shine throughout the season. Try to bring your own shopping bags to the market, and please ride your bike or walk to the market if you can. If you drive, park your car in the Aberjona or Shore Road lot to leave parking spaces surrounding the common open for short-term parking near downtown businesses. The Aberjona lot, which runs along the commuter rail track across from the post office, is free on weekends, including the permit spaces in the end of the lot.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday on the common. Sincerely, Winchester Farmers Market Organizing Committee

| Featured Artist of the Week: Ruth Lieberherr |
|
Painter Ruth Lieberherr will at the market this week.
Artist's Statement I usually begin my paintings without a premeditated concept. From the fluid feeling of paint on canvas or on paper, I go where the inspiration of the colors leads me. Influenced by the ideas of the Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner, I explore the character and expressions of the different colors. The art work grows out of the act of painting in a metamorphosis of form and color through its various layers. Images emerge from a deeper level of consciousness and find form on canvas or paper. Remembered landscapes, people, feelings, find a new, dream-like reality in my work. It invites the viewers to explore and expand their own imagination.
