The College Experience at the
University of Houston

UH_NL_3
Ft. Bend I.S.D. students are truly enjoying the experience of visiting the University of Houston

On February 3rd First and Goal, Inc. in partnership with Ft. Bend ISD took students from their Care and Share mentoring program at Oyster Creek, Barbara Jordan, Quail Valley and Jaun Sequin Elementary on a field trip to the University of Houston.  The students had an opportunity to visit the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work, College of Technology for a presentation and met with students and staff.  The students were exposed to the various aspects of life as a college student.  Our goal was to expose the students to a college so that they could see and experience what it will take for them to make it a reality in their own lives.  There was also a general tour of the campus nd a stop at the University of Houston Athletic and Alumi Center.

assembly regarding personal, social, academic, and professional achievement. The assembly was presented to 78 fourth grades, 114 fifth graders, and 92 sixth graders. Additionally, 20 staff members attended the program as well. Everyone was excited about his presentation in commemoration of Black History Month.

On behalf of Lantern Lane Elementary, I would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation for supporting our Black History celebration. It is through the support of stakeholders and community leaders that we are able to continue strengthening our educational programs and empowering our students.
