Established In 1999 by former National Football League (NFL) players, Tyrone Smith of the San Francisco 49ers and Darnell Walker of the San Francisco 49ers, the purpose of First and Goal, Inc. is to provide a unique service in which youth will obtain resources to enhance academic, social and moral development.

First and Goal, Inc. - Journey Beyond Dreams College Experience Program at
Louisiana State Univ. and Texas State Univ. 2011
The Journey Beyond Dreams college experience program is a collaborative effort between First and Goal, Inc. and Project GRAD Houston. The two organizations partnered together to bring the 2011 Journey Beyond Dreams college experience summer institute program to over 180 local area high school students. Students from Sam Houston, Yates, Reagan, Wheatley, and Davis High schools attended programs at either Texas State University from June 5th - June 7th or Louisiana State University from June 9thth - June 11th.
The Journey Beyond Dreams college experience program offered program participants residential dormitory living, multiple learning environments and instructors, campus life and activities, as well as exposure to post-secondary education curriculum and university students and staff.
The program not only prepared the participants to become more successful college students, but also provided an invaluable first hand individual and group experience which increased students' confidence in themselves and their abilities to succeed in a college environment.

I honestly went to this program because it was only 3 days and I never would have taught that I would learn so much from this program and that it would change my whole perspective about going and living in college. This was the best experience in my life and life changing to me and I hope that this program continues to influence the life of many students as myself.

The Care and Share Mentoring Program is a group mentoring component of First and Goal, Inc. which emphasizes character development in a group setting while effectively reducing academic failure, juvenile delinquency, gang activity, and other factors that may lead to at risk behavior.
The program encourages student growth in the areas of goal setting, leadership, positive self-image, academic achievement, conflict resolution, and self-confidence.

"The First and Goal - Care and Share Mentoring Program is one of the valuable tools FBISD has provided to make this goal a reality. First and Goal, Inc. is a non-profit, 501c(3) organization, whose mission is to provide the necessary tools, support, and resources for youth that will enrich, equip and empower them to be effective members of society. Fifth and sixth graders at Quail Valley Elementary participated in the program. The program proved to be effective and unique in that the participating students went on a field trip to the University of Houston. It was an experience that proved to be very powerful. Students were able to see how college could play a major role in achieving their goals and success.

In the world of athletics, it has often been said that, "It's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game." This is the concept that is used in encouraging youth to
develop their very own and unique - Game Plan for Life. First and Goal, Inc - Care and Share Mentoring is fully committed and dedicated in its efforts to providing programs that make that slogan come to life in each one of its program participants.

First and Goal, Inc. - L.E.A.D. (Leadership Empowerment to Achieve Dreams) Conferences and Camps are designed to build today's youth into tomorrow's leaders. During the conference students will define the characteristics of a leader and their personal views on leadership.
