Established In 1999 by former National Football League (NFL) players, Tyrone Smith of the San Francisco 49ers, Derrick Harris of the St. Louis Rams and Darnell Walker
of the San Francisco 49ers, the purpose of First and Goal, Inc. is to
provide a unique service in which youth will obtain resources to
enhance academic, social and moral development.

What An Honor
Magdalena "Maggie" Manzano is a former participant of the First
and Goal, 
Inc. - 2003 Journey Beyond Dreams college experience program. Maggie was a
first generation college student, with dreams and contributes her interest in furthering
her education to the Journey Beyond Dreams college experience program. Maggie
is now a graduate student at Texas A&M University working towards a Master
of Public Service and Administration. Maggie had the opportunity to work for the White House Advance Team for President
Obama's visit to the Texas A&M campus on October 16th. This is
Maggie's take on her experience on working with White House staff. "Getting the
opportunity to work for the White House Advance Team for President Obama's
visit to the Texas A&M campus was an honor. President Bush and
President Obama's visit focused on public service and its importance to our
society. This visit to Texas A&M put politics aside and focused on a
common goal that all of us can agree upon, which is the importance of serving
our community. I'm extremely honored to have been one of the few students
selected to participate and serve as a Staff member during this historic visit
to Texas A&M. Being on my second year as a Master of Public Service
and Administration at the George Bush School of Government and Public Service
made this visit much more meaningful to me and my family."
First and Goal is one of those
organizations that takes public service as part of their core mission.
Tyrone Smith and his team serve their community and its future leaders in the
exact same way President Bush and President Obama highlighted during their visit.
First and Goal focus on better educating today's youth for a brighter
tomorrow. And as President Obama said:
"Service isn't separate
from our national priorities, or secondary to our national priorities - it's
integral to achieving our national priorities. It's how we will meet the

Realizing Your Purpose
|
On October 28th Tyrone Smith had the opportunity to speak to
students and staff at Baylor University Academy for Leader Development & Civic Engagement, Mr. Smith focus during his presentation was on Leadership in Contemporary Social Issues. It was truly special for Mr. Smith to go back to Baylor University where he graduated in May of 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology. Tyrone Smith has taken the outstanding
leadership skills that he possesses, and developed programs to help
others learn the secrets to successful leadership. As co-founder of
First and Goal, Incorporated, Tyrone has had the opportunity to teach
thousands the values of leadership, and how to become leaders in their
personal and professional lives. His work with various groups has
helped others not only gain the skills, but the confidence and
character to become effective leaders._____________________________________________________
Hi,
I'm Josh Baker, a sophomore at Baylor University. Since I have been at Baylor I
have attended a lot of speeches and I want you to know that I liked yours the
most. Your speech was amazing. It was the first one I have attended that
actually seemed to move me. When I left I felt inspired, motivated and ... I

Building Tomorrow's Leaders Today

First
and Goal, Inc. has initiated male group mentoring programs at Elsik 9th Grade Center and O'Donnell Middle school both in Alief ISD. The Care and Share group
mentoring
program emphasizes character development and leadership in a
group
setting while effectively reducing academic failure and other factors
that may
lead to at risk behavior. Our goal is to have student growth in the
areas of
goal setting, leadership, positive self-image, academic achievement,
conflict
resolution, and self-confidence.
