Established In 1999 by former National Football League (NFL) players, Tyrone Smith of the San Francisco 49ers, Derrick Harris of the St. Louis Rams and Darnell Walker
of the San Francisco 49ers, the purpose of First and Goal, Inc. is to
provide a unique service in which youth will obtain resources to
enhance academic, social and moral development.

Prepare to Dream 2009
On July 31st and August 1st, Team First and Goal hosted the "Prepare to Dream" Peer
Leadership Program in Austin,
Texas. "Prepare to Dream"
effectively encourages high school students to become leaders among their peers by assisting them in developing the necessary tools for positive influence. Team First and Goal staff members spoke
with the students about ways to combat the negative pitfalls of
their environments, and also ways to inspire one another and their peers to achieve their goals through higher education or college attendance. Parents and school administrators
actively participated in the "Prepare 2 Dream" Peer Leadership Program. Team First and Goal would like to thank Dr.
Charlotte Davis, Director of Guidance and Counseling for Aldine I.S.D., and
Tiawana Collier, College Coordinator for Aldine I.S.D. for their contributions in making the "Prepare to Dream" Peer Leadership Program a success.

of Texas trip was a very motivating experience for our students. Students
returned motivated to do what it takes to go to college, and to be leaders
with the attitude of I am going to help my peers go to college too. First
and Goal is the leader in building student leaders. Thanks for an

For the professional athlete, the thought of having a career  ending injury is a nightmare.The
idea that all the years of
sacrifice and preparation to perform at the
highest level ending because of something you can't control would be
unthinkable. The first thought is to curse God, get mad
at the world, while at the same time thinking that their destiny and
purpose has ended. For those athletes who aren't
mentally strong or don't know what their life will be like outside of
the sport they have training for, it can be particularly catastrophic. This was not the case for former San Francisco 49ers cornerback Tyrone Smith.
In 1999, Smith broke the T-5 (Thoracic) vertebrae in his back (spinal column) while playing in NFL Europe. For
some people, that incident would have broken their spirit, but through
Smith's brokenness, he found wholeness, peace of mind and found
fulfillment in his true destiny.
"I truly believe that this is my purpose in life," said Smith. "I believe we all are called to do something and my purpose in life is to make a difference in the lives of young people." (read more)
