First and Goal, Inc. Journey Beyond Dream Program 2009
This year's Journey Beyond Dreams College Experience Program impacted the lives of high school students from Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas and Waco ISD. The program provided students with a realistic view of college, and exposed the students to campus life. The seven (7) day program, facilitated at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, equipped students with the tools, techniques and incite on
what it takes to be successful in college and in their everyday lives.
I just want to say that the Journey Beyond Dreams is a
great program. I think every student should be able to experience this camp.
Journey Beyond Dreams can be a vital part of a persons life not only college
wise, just life in general. I will never forget my time at Baylor University with
the Journey Beyond Dreams staff and all the new people I met. I would be mad if
there wasn't a reunion!! Lastly while I'm a college student I want to be a
counselor to give kids my same experience or even better!

Reaching Students Is Our Mission
|
On June 25th, Tyrone Smith presented to students at the Communities In School-Baytown summer program. Tyrone's message inspired the students to "Make Their Dreams a Reality" and encouraged them to establish expectations and goals for themselves. Each student left Mr. Smith's presentation inspired to succeed and reach for their dreams.

"The students and the staff talked about your presentation for the
remainder of our summer program. I think the message was right on target
and hit students in the place that matters, their heads and heart. I
believe your background is one our students relate to and your message does not
come across as preaching but as sound advice."

Positive
Resources for Empowering Professionals
Project P.R.E.P is a tool to
empower, equip, and enrich administrators and school faculty to get the most
out of their skills through seminars and conferences. A key component to
effectively teaching and guiding young people is to have an atmosphere that is
conducive to achieving your goal as an educator. Project P.R.E.P. seminars and
conferences focus on bridging the gap between students and educators by
teaching the educator to recognize, acknowledge, and relate to today's
students.
On May 21st and 28th, Tyrone Smith had the opportunity to work with staff from Ft. Bend I.S.D. for the district Character Education and Cultural Diversity Training. Tyrone emphasized the
importance of understanding their purpose in life, having a plan to fulfill
their purpose, and making a commitment to giving their best effort. The staff was uplifted by the message from Tyrone Smith, and left the seminar with the challenge of being positive and productive leaders in their schools.

Smith is full of energy, enthusiasm and lots of passion for students. We are
excited about the very positive feedback we received from the students and staff
about Mr. Smith presentations at our District Character Education and Cultural
Diversity Trainings. Our District Student Advisory members eagerly participated
with the activities Mr. Smith use with the Student Leadership Seminar. Fort Bend ISD is
committed to preparing our students for the "Global Tomorrow" by helping them
to build character for life. Mr. Smith brings a fresh new perspective to many
students in our district.
