Established In 1999 by former National Football League (NFL) players, Tyrone Smith of the San Francisco 49ers, Derrick Harris of the St. Louis Rams and Darnell Walker
of the San Francisco 49ers, the purpose of First and Goal, Inc. is to
provide a unique service in which youth will obtain resources to
enhance academic, social and moral development.

College Is A Reality
On Friday, March 31st, the Boys Club of Budewig Intermediate of Alief ISD took a field trip to the University of Houston. The students had an opportunity to visit the College of Technology for a presentation and met with students and staff. The students were exposed to the various aspects of life as a college student. Our goal was to expose the students to a college so that they could see and experience what it will take for them to make it a reality in their own lives. There was also a general tour of the campus and a stop at the University of Houston Athletic and Alumi Center were the students visited the Cougar Hall of Fame and meet coaches and athletes.

"It is not often that I get to
interact with middle school students and speak to them about the importance of
a college education. I was very impressed and pleasantly surprised that
these 22 young men came ready to learn and also taught me a few things!
These students knew the degrees they want to pursue, understood concepts about
the economic payoff of higher education and had fun learning facts about the
University of Houston and the College of Technology."

Reaching Students Is Our Mission
|
On March 6th, Tyrone Smith presented to students at Elsik 9th Grade Center - Alief ISD while recording artist Yunek entertained the students. Tyrone message inspired the students to "Make Their Dreams a Reality "
and encouraged them establish expectations and goals for themselves. Each student left
Mr. Smith's presentation inspired to succeed. Yunek encouraged the students through her music to be unique as individuals with a purpose and don't be afraid of succeeding in life.

On March 31st, TEAM First and Goal delivered a
motivational message that encouraged the students at Conroe High School. The message emphasized the
importance of understanding their purpose in life, having a plan to fulfill
their purpose, and making a commitment to giving their best effort. The students were uplifted by the message from Tyrone Smith and Derrick Harris. Each student left with the challenge of being positive leaders in their schools, homes and communities.

Through the dynamic speakers and energetic
videos, our students are motivated to reach their potential and goals in life.
Our students can relate to the experiences and challenges that Tyrone and
Derrick describe in their own lives. We believe that the First and Goal team
enhances our academics while promoting social and moral development.
Thanks again. It was a pleasure to see
them again this year.

First and Goal, Inc. - L.E.A.D. (Leadership Empowerment to Achieve Dreams) Conferences and Camps
