NIBROC TRILOGY

 BREAKS CTC BOX OFFICE RECORDS

2010 Summer Season Culminates with Performances of Complete Three Play Cycle

CHESTER --

The Chester Theatre Company's Trilogy in a Day presentations of Arlene Hutton's Nibroc Cycle paced the last two weeks of the 2010 summer season to box office records. The cycle of plays -- Last Train to Nibroc, See Rock City and Gulf View Drive -- produced the highest two week box office gross in the 21 year history of CTC. Critical praise and audience word of mouth also spurred audience attendance to second place on the all time company records.

The Trilogy In A Day presentations on Saturday August 14th and 21st included an afternoon ice cream social and an early evening dinner featuring foods mentioned in the plays. "We were blessed with perfect weather for these two days, and our patrons were treated to a small town America "happening" that was totally in keeping with the spirit of these very special plays,"said CTC Artistic Director Byam Stevens, "they walked Main Street in Chester, dipping into the parish hall for the ice cream social and the train station for a country style dinner. It's a total theatre experience they'll be talking about for years."

From The Berkshire Eagle's "Virtually flawless!" to the Berkshire Record's "A brilliantly written tour de force!", from The Arts, Etc.'s "A mini-masterpiece; flawless craftsmanship!" to the Arts Fuse's "Triumphant!" area  critics were as enthusiastic as the audiences.

The Trilogy in a Day presentation on Saturday, August 21st was highlighted by playwright Arlene Hutton's attendance. CTC patrons were eager to ask questions and share their enthusiasm. The experience was exciting for Hutton as well, "The CTC presentation of THE NIBROC TRILOGY was a playwright's dream -- a valentine of a production, meticulously directed and finely detailed in design and execution. As much as I loved the New York, Dallas and Los Angeles productions, there was something very special in seeing plays about a small town being performed in a small town. It was so rewarding to see the audience on their feet cheering at the end. The Marathon event was so much fun and so well thought out that the audience members became their own community -- all of us friends by the end of the day, having shared a unique theatrical experience. Thank you, Byam and Chester Theatre Company!"

Arlene Hutton's Nibroc Trilogy -  the funny, romantic, touching tale of two young Kentuckians who meet, fall in love, get married and create a unique family unit - paints a dramatic portrait of a changing America in mid-20th century.

ABOUT CHESTER THEATRE COMPANY

Chester Theatre Company was founded in 1990 by Vincent Dowling and H. Newman Marsh. CTC produces 4-5 plays each summer and fall, performed by top-flight actors, directors and designers from across the country. Performances take place in the intimate setting of the Chester Town Hall. Over the years, The Miniature Theatre of Chester, as it was then known, grew from "little miracle of the Berkshires" (The Berkshire Eagle) to a company that "has produced a record that can rival the best the area has to offer."
