CodeArmor Intelligence Support for Linux
We recently announced that CodeArmor Intelligence now supports Linux platforms.

The Electronic Design Automation Consortium sees the benefit for its members, many of which are ISVs losing large amounts of revenue from businesses' use of pirated software. "The EDA software industry members typically build high value applications that can be used on both Windows and Linux platforms," said Scott Baeder, chairman of the EDA's anti-piracy committee. "By extending CodeArmor Intelligence to support Linux, we have a solution that can help us better understand the evidence to help recover revenue from businesses using unlicensed software on both Windows and Linux platforms."

"Linux is a rapidly growing platform for many high-value software applications because it's cost-effective, reliable and offers high performance," said Victor DeMarines, vice president of Products for V.i. Labs. "However, ISVs developing software for Linux are experiencing the same level of piracy activity found in Microsoft-based environments. Our new version of CodeArmor Intelligence reflects this reality and allows ISVs to detect and report on pirated use for both Linux and Windows applications."

Partnership with StrikeIron Enhances CodeArmor Intelligence Capabilities
StrikeIronWe also announced a strategic partnership with StrikeIron to automate and enhance the piracy use data captured through CodeArmor Intelligence.

ISVs using CodeArmor Intelligence can now accelerate and streamline the cycle time of recouping revenue from companies illegally using their software. The partnership with StrikeIron takes the information companies can gather to another level by populating additional fields with precise company information obtained through its Gale Group Business Intelligence Web Service.

"CodeArmor Intelligence customers using StrikeIron will see a dramatic increase in actionable information that until now had to be collected manually," said Bob Brauer, president and co-founder of StrikeIron. "This is especially true when dealing with international companies suspected of stealing software: the information is often much harder to obtain, and therefore presents a longer cycle time for revenue recovery."

"Working with StrikeIron gives our customers real-time access to Gale data for increased business intelligence in their fight against software pirates around the world," said Victor DeMarines, vice president of Products at V.i. Labs. "The more information at their disposal the better the possibility they have of taking direct action to recover their intellectual property and their revenue."

How to Recover Revenue from Businesses Illegally Using Your Software:
A Legal Perspective

Finding the PiratesAs the realities of the economic downturn loom large, software vendors are looking more closely at ways of maximizing their revenues. While many independent software vendors (ISVs) know that businesses around the globe are using their applications illegally, few have established strategies for recovering the lost revenue.

In this webinar, attorney David Goldstone, a partner in Goodwin Procter's Intellectual Property and White Collar Crime & Government Investigations Practices, discusses the legal approaches to recovering revenue and the issues around automatic software auditing.

V.i. Labs' Victor DeMarines shows you how to create actionable leads for your legal or sales teams and demonstrates how CodeArmor Intelligence can tell you exactly who is using your software illegally.

Thanks for reading this month's newsletter - 2009 is off to a great start, and we thank you for your continued support and suggestions.

Best Regards,
Michael Goff
