Vascular Table with 70 degree tilt

First the good news. We we're happy   to announce the expansion of our new line of ultrasound exam tables at the SDMS annual conference with the addition of the vascular and echocardiography tables. We're grateful to all of you who visited us at the booth and expressed interest in the tables. The echo and vascular tables will be available starting in December and, as with our other models, have been designed in collaboration with Oakworks Medical and Sound Ergonomics to exceed industry standards for ergonomics and Sonographer safety. They are uniquely a "Sonographer's exam table".  Every facet of their design has been developed from the sonographer's point of view. Joan and Carolyn's  50+ years of combined experience in sonography and ergonomic design has gone into each table.

Now the bad news. It always amazes me how much planning goes into attending a conference like SDMS. You have to decide on booth size.Where you you want to be in the hall. Do you want carpet? How about padding underneath? Do you want it vacuumed?, Do we need electric? What will our display look like? Who will attend? Then buy the airline tickets, make the hotel reservations and most importantly, decide what items should be  displayed, and how do we get them there. And that's where it all starts to fall apart. In addition to the exam tables, we had something else to show you. Remember in the last letter I told you we had something that would actually make you look forward to doing portables? Well that never happened. Our brand new laptop cart never survived its journey to the conference. Somewhere along the way between the warehouse in Seattle and the warehouse in Denver a house fell on it.  It's a terrible feeling to walk into the hall on setup day, spot your location, quickly scan to make sure everything arrived and then realize that one of your most important items is crushed like old beer can.

Laptop CartAnyway here's a photo of what we had hoped to present at the show - before the house fell on it. Don't worry, we'll make more! The cart was designed  to address the ergonomic challenges related to bedside exams. It provides you with an ergonomic work surface for your hand carried ultrasound system.

Features:

Easily moveable; single hand positioning.

Extensive height range

2 transducer holders

Negative tilt for neutral hand and neck positioning

Thanks to all our friends who stopped by the booth.

2011 is shaping up to be a busy year with lots of new and exciting things happening.  "PRISM" will be comming in May. Look for the details in the next letter. See you then.

Planning a conference or continuing education program?

Sonographer ergonomics is a topic that increases registration at meetings.

According to surveys the most sought after topics for continuing education among health professionals are lectures on occupational safety. Sound Ergonomics addresses the incidence of occupational injury in allied health and diagnostic imaging. It is our goal to reduce the rate of injury through education and training. We realize that the causes of work-related injury are multi faceted, however, work safety education in ergonomics empowers professionals with the ability to control their risk for injury. Sound Ergonomics professionals are available for lecture and/or to provide hands training in ergonomics for your conference attendees. Full or half day tutorials are possible as well as 30 minute and 50 minute lectures. CME eligible.
