Summer Clearance
50-75% OFF!!!

Don't forget, we mark down ALL consignment items 25% OFF, then 50% OFF, then 75% OFF before we donate it to local charities, based solely on how long they've been on the racks.  Most of our summer items are now reaching 50-75% off as of July 1st  :-)  :-)

We monitor local retail establishments and can't help but wonder why people don't stop by our place first, then go check out everyone else.  I mean, most of them offer 10-40% off, max...  and we have more brands, more bows, more kids play area, more space, and better customer service than just about everybody.

With our markdown system, you're guaranteed new inventory every 90 days or so!

Exclusive to our email list clients only, we're going to do something no other store in the area is doing.  Gotta get your friends on the list (sign up below or through our website) for the announcement at the end of July to prepare for our huge

Tax Free Weekend Event Aug 7-9 !!!

And for you Doubting Thomas' out there, just today one of our frequent customers Laura Hart was absolutely euphoric when she found this Lili Jaufrette light sweater, which retails for almost $80, marked down 75% hanging on our racks...

Sweater 75% off

...and LLaL's price started at $22, so after 75% markdown Laura paid only $5.50 for this piece that she said "was in like-new condition!  Did anyone wear this?"

Way to go, Laura!  Who said fashion had to break the bank?  :-)

NEW! Brix Summer Camp
Brix
Ok, I've had enough moms ask why Sir Brixalot doesn't do a Summer Camp, so let's give it a go!  :-)  I've just completed my 4th week-long summer camp at the Fairfax JCCNV where we spend 9am to 2pm doing nothing but LEGO, LEGO, LEGO every day!

Since I can't do this during the day (workin' don't ya know) we're going to try an evening Summer Camp from Aug 3rd-7th, 5-8pm ages 7+.  I'll consider younger kids if they demonstrate maturity and ability beyond their years ;-)

So what's in a camp???  There's soooo much that can be taught through LEGO bricks...  Mechanical Engineering concepts (tallest tower, longest bridge, rubberband powered cars), artistic forms (mosaics, names), architectural methods (building a sphere, flying buttresses, scaling, bricking technique, oblique angles), historical pieces (Noah's Ark, Jamestown), Civil Engineering (city planning, amusement park creation), Leadership (Mayor of a City, CEO of a corporation designing Air Force 2), Entrepreneurial mindsets (build your own store, sell your wares) and virtually unlimited creativity skillsets.

I've done all of the above, and many more, in the (literally) hundreds of Brix Clubs and Camps I've orchestrated over the years.

Send an email to info@LittleLordsandLadies.com and I'll forward you a sample PDF file of a typical camp (just completed two weeks ago!).  Haven't yet decided which topics I'll include, but one of the highlights is always a 10x15 foot creation like the one seen below :-)

Brix Club Castle

Have the kids bring dinner (food considerations are just to darn complicated nowadays :-) and I'll do the rest... Cost will be $75/child (which is $5/hr if you do the math for the week!)  Everyone will bring home a cd full of pics of their experience.  I assure you, there's nothing like it!

:-)

Howdy!  This is the Blog portion of our Newsletter where we will share our thoughts, hopes, dreams, fears, leftover pizza, good juju, left sock, and any random tidbit for those who want to know us better :-)

People ask what's the difference between an Entrepreneur and an Employee.  You gotta be 50% self-motivated, 50% fearless (or Faith-full!), and 50% crazy.

Here's an absolutely true allegory of what I'm willing to do for you, our customers :-)  When I say our store is *not* like other stores and our staff is the best around, I really, sincerely mean it...  We're by no means perfect, but we'll do our best for you every time :-)

I received an email from a Brixalot.com customer (my other business of LEGO Birthday parties :-) on Friday (July 3rd) stating, "Please send address to pay for upcoming event July 6th.  Thnx!"

No prob.  So I look on my calendar and strangely enough there's no appointment slated for July 6th.  OK.  My office manager (the amazing Jerrilynn from LLaL's story hour!) just moved to New Mexico (sniffle, sniffle) so she must have missed the entry.

No prob.  Calls to the daycare go unanswered, as do emails (holiday weekend, no surprise).  OK.  I'll search for previous emails with details... Nada.  Or search for her name.  Zip.  Or search for the daycare name, location, date?  Nilch. Whammy.  Nothing.

No prob.  Definitely strange, though.  So I get the address of the daycare from her email and leave Sunday night at 11pm (after helping put my boys to bed, developing a mini-Brix Club cirriculum, and loading the car - when else do you think I have time to do these things???), delivering 4 bins of bricks to their doorstep so they'll have it the morning of July 6th.  Drive 1.25 hours to Frederick, MD, from Herndon.  Finally get to the GPS destination... to find out it's a gate.  To a military base.  Ft. Detrick, to be exact.  And it's now past midnight and it's closed, naturally.  Oooookay.

No prob.  Drive around to find the only thing open that time of night (thank goodness for Sheetz).  The main gate is 1 mile thataway.  Thanks.  Now it's 1am, I'm driving up to a military base in the middle of the night with 4 unmarked bins of LEGO bricks packed into my Malibu.  To say the least, the two Officers were skeptical, at best.  After a full car search, pouring out a zillion LEGO bricks from the bins to prove that yes, indeed, they were only filled with more bricks, a gazillion and one questions as to why I wanted to leave 4 unmarked bins outside a kids' daycare, and a call to their Chief Officer who had never heard of a LEGO delivery service, I was turned away.  Bottom line: wait till they open at 7!

OK, could be a problem.

It's now 2a.m.  Perhaps I have the wrong place?  Fire up ye ol' Blackberry and surf the web to confirm... and naturally their website wasn't compatible with Blackberries.  Called Charlene (amazing woman I married :-) and have her surf and sure enough, it's on a military base so it's the right location.

To further complicate matters, I have an 8am meeting with my boss and a 9am meeting with a Vice President at Orbital.  IF I can get on the base at 6:30 and IF I can make it back home in rush hour traffic to change into work clothes and IF I can make it back to Orbital I'll have no problem.

So that's what I did :-)

Slept in a 24hr McDonalds parking lot for 3.5 hrs, got on base at 6:15 (deliveries are common in the a.m.!!!), delivered by 6:20, got home by 7:40, practically stripped to my skivvies before reaching the front door to change inside, got to Orbital by 7:58, and got to all my meetings.

Piece of Cake :-)

Now imagine what I'm willing to do for our consignment store...  What's the diff between Biz people and Employees?  Charlene says it best: "Where there's a will, there's a way."

And it helps to be 50% crazy :-)

Brian

Vendors!

We've decided to open the Tax Free Weekend Event on Aug 7-9 to vendors, Stay-At-Home-Moms, and fellow entrepreneurs :-)  If you've got a unique service or wares to sell, drop us a line and we'll begin a dialog!

Rates are $40 (services) or $80 (sales) for about a 10x10' chunk o' floor.  What you do with the space is up to you :-)

We're looking for a Gymboree+ overstock supplier, a book utopia, a ceramic wizard, a toy heaven, and more :-)

Not interested in home party vendors (there are a *lot* of y'all out there!) for this event.  Preference given to local SAHMs with unique business offerings.  First come, first serve!

We've never done this before, so I think the vendor portion will be Sat/Sun, and you need to bring anything you need (we're on a shoestring budget like you :-).  And there are no Rights of First Refusal; two vendors with the same wares?  May the best biz model win...

(welcome to Capitalism!)
