Judging a person

Does not define who they are

It defines who you are.

Greetings!

August already!
The 14th Festival of Light is just over 7 weeks away!

We have certainly had a mix of extreme weather since the last Newsletter at the beginning of July.  No point complaining as this cannot change our lot so let us make the most of whatever we are given, what else can we do?

Two full moons this month, the second one is termed a blue moon, the first one is early tomorrow morning, Thursday 2nd.  I will cut my hedge and the ivy on my front wall as soon as I can after this to retard the growth. Needs to be done before the new moon on Friday 17th August otherwise cutting will boost growth and I would rather wait until the following full moon.

Chameleon
Chameleon

Most Bantu cultures share a common myth about the origin of death involving a chameleon.  According to this myth, God sent the chameleon to announce to men that they would never die. The chameleon went on his mission, but he walked slowly and stopped along the way to eat. Some time after the chameleon had left, a lizard went to announce to men that they would die. Being much quicker than the chameleon, the lizard arrived first, thus establishing the mortal nature of man. As a consequence of this myth, both chameleons and lizards are often considered bad omens in Bantu cultures.      Wikipedia

Note: The chameleon has become rather special to me of late and I had a fabulous  one in a brilliant yellow come to me during one of the workshops in Glastonbury last weekend.

My Amazon Kindle Books

The following eBooks that I have put together are all available on Amazon Kindle.  Most are either $1.23 or 77p.  Those with the asterisk are $3.07 and £1.92 The UK price is governed by the dollar exchange rate so can fluctuate a little. I made the decision to price them very reasonably so they were accessible to all preferring to sell lots for a little rather than at a premium rate.  You don't need a Kindle as you can download to your PC and Amazon gives you the software immediately to do this. I was offering all  these as eCourses and those who have bought them can still return your coursework to gain your Continued Professional Development (CPD) Point certificates.  If any of you still wish to do any eCourses just contact me and we can arrange this.

I have reduced the price of the Nutritional Medicine, What are you 'Weighting' for?  and Diabetes Mellitus Type 11, Kindle
eBooks to make them available to as many people as possible.

Lillies

A Modern Herbal - Margaret Grieve 1931

The Lilies belong to a genus consisting of less than 100 known species, occurring in all parts of the Northern Hemisphere. They are mostly found growing in fairly good soil in association with shrubs and other plants which shade their roots and help to keep the bulbs cool and in a uniform state as regards moisture.

With some exceptions, Lilies grown as garden plants in this country are fairly hardy, especially if planted deep enough and in doubtful cases given protection with ashes or dry litter. The majority of Lilies require a soil fairly rich in humus or vegetable mould, and if it is desirable to plant Lilies in poor soil or in chalky districts, an area must be dug out 2 feet deep and filled in with kitchen garden soil mixed with fibrous loam and sand.

The best manure for all Lilies is wood ash, provided it has been carefully stored in a dry place, because its virtue consists in the potash it contains, which a single shower suffices to dissolve and wash to waste. The ash of twigs and leaves contains a larger percentage of potash than that of large branches and logs. Lilies are propagated by means of division or offsets, which as such increase freely, but increase by seed and bulbscales are the more usual methods.

In China, the dried scales of L. japonicum are considered nourishing and useful in diseases of the chest, as a substitute for Salep, the product of Orchis tubers.

Healing Visualisation & Regression CDs

The Healing Visualisation CD is a 36 minute focus on the body and it's main systems, lungs, heart, arteries, veins, lymphatics, skeleton, nervous system, digestive and eliminative sytems, ending in a very healing & peaceful space. The new Regression CD is now  more than 46 minutes long. I will have these in Weston-super-Mare and Glastonbury or you can purchase online. http://www.drelizabethanndiamond.com

The Vulture

The vulture is a very powerful totem. Its cycle of power is year-round. If you have a Vulture as a spirit guide or totem, it can show you how to use energy powerfully and efficiently.  It glides effortlessly on the winds, soaring to extraordinary heights while using little or no energy.  The Vulture skillfully employs already existing air currents against the pull of gravity, symbolizing the distribution of energy so that gravity (or cares) do not weigh it (you) down.  In the process the vulture does not use its own energy, but the energies of the Earth instead, the energies of the Earth, or the Natural Order of Things.

Turquoise

Turquoise

Turquoise was among the first gems to be mined, and while many historic sites have been depleted, some are still worked to this day. These are all small-scale, often seasonal operations, owing to the limited scope and remoteness of the deposits. Most are worked by hand with little or no mechanization. However, turquoise is often recovered as a by product of large-scale copper mining operations, especially in the United States.

Because of the value and popularity of turquoise in the last several decades, a myriad of treatments and synthetics have entered the market. In fact, it is harder to find natural turquoise than it is treated or synthetic turquoise. 80% of turquoise has been treated to improve either its colour or durability. Treatments are used to make inferior pieces of natural turquoise harder and therefore more resistant to wear; durable enough to take a high polish. Treatments are also used to strengthen and enhance the colour of paler less valuable turquoise stones.

Impregnated or "stabilized" turquoise: Naturally porous turquoise is sometimes treated by the absorption of resins, epoxies, paraffin wax or plastics. This improves its texture and durability. You can tell if a gemstone has been treated this way by poking it with a hot needle. If it smells like plastic, you know it has been treated in this way. You can also tell by scratching it with a knife: treated turquoise has a hardness more like that of plastic, and therefore will scratch, whereas natural turquoise is harder and will not scratch under the knife.

Dyed or "enhanced" turquoise: These turquoise stones have been dyed to improve colour. Some of these techniques are very difficult to distinguish from natural turquoise.

Reconstituted or pressed turquoise: small pieces of low quality or "scrap" turquoise is crushed into a powder and then mixed with binders (sticky substances) and pressed back together in a solid mass. Turquoise treated in this way is one of the lesser valued types.

Imitation or "block" turquoise: This is not a treatment or form of genuine turquoise, but rather another substance that "pretends" to be turquoise. It is fake turquoise. Substances can include plastic, ceramic, other dyed reconstituted rocks, dyed resinous materials. You can tell the difference between plastics and resins and real turquoise by holding them in your hand for about 7 minutes. The plastic will get warm while the turquoise will not.                    Various sources

Don't Give Up

When things go wrong as they sometimes will

When the road you are trudging seems all uphill

When funds are low and debts are high

And you want to smile but you have to sigh

When care is pressing you down a bit

Rest if you must, but don't you quit
