Greetings!

I have been so busy of late but I have now found time to produce this monthly Newsletter.

I have decided to include the North American Indian Legend at the end and you may have seen this in a newsletter but a long time ago, it just feels right to repeat it now.

Lots going on in June, there is the Bristol Big Green Week, the second Mystic and Earth Spirit Fayre this month in Glastonbury and the 13th Free Festival of Light in Weston-super-Mare.  I hope that you can make this one, the 14th and last one this year will be on Saturday 22nd September.  Hope to see some of you there.

I've been able to find more time to work on my Healing jewellery but watch out for some very special items to come.  Don't forget the Newsletter Archive with a link from each of my websites. http://www.drelizabethanndiamond.com

Have a brilliant June, so nice to have the extra daylight hours.

Many Blessings   Liz

New Gemstone Jewellery & Tumble Stones
Gemstone Jewellery     Tumble Stone Baskets    Hand Carved Jade Pendants   Gemstone Necklaces

I have been working on some Gemstone necklaces, bracelets & ear rings at last! I've had these and many more gem stone strands for a long time but finally made time to start putting them together. I've already sold quite a few but I will have my full stock at the June 30th Festival of Light. I will take as many as I can to Glastonbury on 23rd to 24th June.

I recently had an order for some tumble stones as a present so I packed them into a nice little lidded basket and the recipient was delighted. I will be making up several versions of these for the Festival of Light as well.

I have also bought in some very nice Chinese hand carved jade pendants, selling from £1.50 to £7.50. These are copies of ancient carvings.

My Amazon Kindle Books

The following eBooks that I have put together are all available on Amazon Kindle.  Most are either $1.23 or 77p.  Those with the asterisk are $3.07 and £1.92 The UK price is governed by the dollar exchange rate so can fluctuate a little. I made the decision to price them very reasonably so they were accessible to all preferring to sell lots for a little rather than at a premium rate.  You don't need a Kindle as you can download to your PC and Amazon gives you the software immediately to do this. I was offering all  these as eCourses and those who have bought them can still return your coursework to gain your Continued Professional Development (CPD) Point certificates.  If any of you still wish to do any eCourses just contact me and we can arrange this.

I have reduced the price of the Nutritional Medicine Kindle eBooks to make them available to as many people as possible.

Violet, Dog

A Modern Herbal by Margaret Grieve 1931

 Dog Violet

Botanical: Viola canina (LINN.)  Family: N.O. Violaceae

Parts Used---Leaves and flowers.

Description---The Dog Violet differs principally from the Sweet Violet in its long straggling stems and paler blue flowers. It possesses the same properties, being powerfully cathartic and emetic. At one time a medicine made from it had some reputation in curing skin diseases. It may be found on dry hedge-banks and in the woods, flowering from April to August, a longer flowering period than the Sweet Violet. It is a very variable plant in size of leaf and blossom, form of leaf and other parts, but there seem to be no permanent and reliable differences to justify the division into distinct subspecies. The root-stock of the Dog Violet is short and from it rises a tuft of leaves. The flowering stems are at first short, but as time goes on they elongate considerably until sometimes they may be found nearly a foot long. The leaves are heart-shaped and with serrated edges, but vary much in their proportions. They are ordinarily, like the stems, quite smooth, while in the Sweet Violet we often get them more or less covered with soft hairs. The flowers are scentless, generally larger than those of the Sweet Violet, not only paler in colour, but like most purple flowers, occasionally varying to white.

The popular name of this plant is a reproach for its want of perfume.

I have allowed lots of these to grow in my garden because I find them pleasing to the eye if not the nose.  I also have several clumps of the white flowered ones which have been much coveted by passerbys. I've dug clumps for people who have spotted them and asked.  I now have one lady waiting for my shrub rose pink ballerina to flower so she can have some cuttings.  That part of my front garden is covered by thousands of the pretty single flowers from now onwards.

 The Sparrow

I fail to understand why some disregard the sparrow, in favour of more brightly coloured birds. I love to watch them soaking in my garden bird baths especially in very hot weather.

Contemporary superstition says that sparrows carry the souls of the dead and it is unlucky to kill one.   Hebrew myth reversed the superstition, saying that sparrows brought the souls of the newborn to earth.   Ancient Greeks associated sparrows with Aphrodite, because of the sociable natures.  Biblical references, and later Christian references, note their commonness in sayings like "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny. Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father." St Francis preached sermons to sparrows according to legend to demonstrate his love for all of God's creatures. The sparrow is associated with true love. With thanks to Yahoo answers.

The Lion

During the Power/Totem animal workshop in Glastonbury on Sunday The Lion made itself known to me so I have included some details here.

Lions appear throughout mythologies and cultures as symbols of royalty, power, courage, and sometimes vengeance. In Egyptian mythology, the goddesses Sekhmet and Menhit were both goddesses who had lion characteristics. In Greek mythology the Nemean lion was an obstacle that Hercules had to conquer as one of his twelve labours. The sphinx was the monstrous offspring of Orphus and Chimaera, a creature with the body of a lion and the head of a woman. No matter what form or culture the lion appears in he or she is always a force to be reckoned with.

Soap Nuts

I went to the VegFest in Bristol at the end of May and discovered Soap Nuts.  I was going to buy some washing liquid on the way home but when I had a nice young man explaining how these worked I bought them and have used nothing else since for my washing.  I do one to five loads everyday and have found these brilliant.  They are cheaper, organic, vegan, hypoallergenic, chemical & cruelty free.  Just compost them when they have given you four to five washes per 3-5 soap nuts.   www.soapnuts.co.uk.

Healing Visualisation & Regression CDs

The Healing Visualisation CD is a 36 minute focus on the body and it's main systems, lungs, heart, arteries, veins, lymphatics, skeleton, nervous system, digestive and eliminative sytems, ending in a very healing & peaceful space. The new Regression CD is now  more than 46 minutes long. I will have these in Weston-super-Mare and Glastonbury or you can purchase online. http://www.drelizabethanndiamond.com

North American Indian Legend

The Bear tribe, chief among the animals, called a meeting of all the animals. They decided that something just had to be done about the destructive tribe of Mankind. The Bears suggested that they shoot back when the humans shot at them, but the bow and arrow required too great a sacrifice, for one bear would have to give up his life so that his sinew could be used for the bowstring. The bear's claws were too long for shooting a bow anyway, and would become entangled on the string.

The Deer tribe offered another method of dealing with the problem. One of its members said. 'We will bring disease into the world. Each of us will be responsible for a different illness. When humans live out of balance with Nature, when they forget to give thanks for their food, they will get sick.' And in fact the Deer did invoke rheumatism and arthritis, each animal then decided to invoke a different disease.

The Plant tribe was more sympathetic and felt that was too harsh a punishment, so the plants volunteered their help. They said that for every disease a human suffered, a plant would be present to cure it. That way, if humans used their intelligence, they would be able to cure their ailments and regain their balance.

All of Nature agreed to this strategy. One plant, in particular, spoke out. This was Tobacco, the chief of the plants. He said, 'I will be the sacred herb; I will not cure any specific disease, but I will help people return to the sacred way of life, provided I am smoked or offered with prayers and ceremony. But if I am misused and merely smoked for pleasure, I will cause cancer, the worst disease of all.'

The close friends of the Plant tribe, the Rock tribe and the Mineral tribe, agreed to help. Each mineral would have a spiritual power, a subtle vibration that could be used to regain perfect health. The Ruby, worn as an amulet, would heal the heart; the Emerald would heal the liver and so on.

The Chief of the mineral tribe, Quartz Crystal, was clear, like the light of creation itself. Quartz put his arms around his brother Tobacco and said, 'I will be the sacred mineral: I will heal the mind and help human beings see the origin of disease. I will help to bring wisdom and clarity in dreams. And I will record their spiritual history, including our meeting today, so that in the future, if humans gaze into me, they may see their origin and the way of harmony, ' And so it is today.

This legend is part of the heritage of the Cherokee tribe, yet is has been told, and retold, time and time again, by every Native American Indian tribe.

The Native American Indians were also great believers in the healing power of crystal and gemstones. Personal stones would be given to a baby boy at birth and throughout his adulthood, until death, the Red Indian would carry these crystals and gemstones around with him in a specially designed pouch attached to his waist. Native American Indians have always possessed tremendous insight and knowledge, often intuitive, about the natural laws of mother earth. They speak about crystals with a perception that comes from deep in their hearts and minds.
