Greetings!
At last I have been finding some time to work in my garden and I find it so rewarding and satisfying. When I announced that I was now in semi-retirement several people have asked me how I am enjoying all my free time. Well any time I've created for myself is still spent working at what I love so you would rarely find me lying around in the sunshine, more like sowing, digging, planting and pruning. However come May it is more like hacking vegetation back so I can still see the paths!
I now work five days on my events, workshops, jewellery making, selling and attended other events but I try to have two days outside doing whatever needs to be done. I still need to find more time for creating new jewellery designs but I may get there as well, who knows.

Thanks to Helen for sending the following to me.
You will notice that those who speak most of prosperity, have it.
Those who speak most of health, have it.
Those who speak most of sickness, have it.
Those who speak most of poverty, have it.
It is Law. It can be no other way...
The way you feel is your point of attraction, and so, the Law of Attraction is most understood when you see yourself as a magnet getting more and more of the way you feel.
When you feel lonely, you attract more loneliness.
When you feel poor, you attract more poverty.
When you feel sick, you attract more sickness.
When you feel unhappy, you attract more unhappiness.
When you feel healthy and vital and alive and prosperous-you attract more of all of those things.

Death is nothing at all
Death is nothing at all I have only slipped away into the next room I am I and you are you Whatever we were to each other That we are still Call me by my own familiar name Speak to me in the easy way you always used Put no difference into your tone Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow Laugh as we always laughed At the little jokes we always enjoyed together Play, smile, think of me, pray for me Let my name be ever the household word that it always was Let it be spoken without effort Without the ghost of a shadow in it Life means all that it ever was There is absolute unbroken continuity What is death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind Because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you for an interval Somewhere very near Just around the corner All is well. Nothing is past; nothing is lost One brief moment and all will be as it was before How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

Ginger is such a wonderful healing spice and one that most people will have in powdered form in their kitchen.
Ginger
A Modern Herbal Mrs M Grieve1931 Ginger Botanical: Zingiber officinale (ROSC.) Family: N.O. Zingiberaceae
PartUsed Root.
Habitat Said to be a native of Asia. Cultivated in West Indies, Jamaica, Africa.
Description Naturalized in America after the discovery of that country by the Spaniards. Francisco de Mendosa transplanted it from the East Indies into Spain, where Spanish-Americans cultivated it vigorously, so that in 1547 they exported 22,053 cwt. into Europe.
It is now cultivated in great quantities in Jamaica and comes into this country dried and preserved. The root from the West Indies is considered the best. Also imported from Africa, there are several varieties known in commerce. Jamaica or White African is a light-brown colour with short rhizome, very pungent. Cochin has a very short rhizome, coated red-grey colour. 'Coated or Uncoated' is the trade term for peel on or skinned. Green Ginger is the immature undried rhizome. Preserved Ginger is made by steeping the root in hot syrup. Ratoon is uncultivated Ginger. Ginger is a perennial root which creeps and increases underground, in tuberous joints; in the spring it sends up from its roots a green reed, like a stalk, 2 feet high, with narrow lanceolate leaves; these die down annually. The flowering stalk rises directly from the root, ending in an oblong scallop spike; from each spike a white or yellow bloom grows. Commercial Ginger is called black or white, according to whether it is peeled or unpeeled; for both kinds the ripened roots are used, after the plant has died down. The black are scalded in boiling water, then dried in the sun. The white (best) are scraped clean and dried, without being scalded. For preserve young green roots are used- they are scalded and are washed in cold water and then peeled. The water is changed several times, so that the process takes three or four days. The tubers are then put into jars and covered with a weak syrup; this is changed after a few days' soaking for a stronger syrup, which is again changed for a still stronger one. The discarded syrups are fermented and made into a liquor called 'cool drink'; a few drops of chloroform or chloride are generally added to the preserve to prevent insects breeding in it. Ginger flowers have an aromatic smell and the bruised stem a characteristic fragrance, but the root is considered the most useful part of the plant, and must not be used under a year's growth. The peeling has to be done very thinly or the richest part of the resin and volatile oil is lost. It is sometimes soaked in lime-juice instead of plain water, and the colour is improved by a final coating of chalk. The Chinese fresh Ginger is grated into powder. African and Cochin Ginger yield the most resin and volatile oil. The root must be kept in a dry place, or it will start growing and is then spoilt. The odour of Ginger is penetrating and aromatic, its taste spicy, hot and biting; these properties are lost by exposure. The most common adulterants are flour, curcuma, linseed, rapeseed, the hulls of cayenne pepper and waste ginger.
Constituents Volatile oil, acrid soft resin, resin insoluble in ether and oil, gum, starch, lignin, vegeto matter, asmazone, acetic acid, acetate of potassa, sulphur.
Medicinal Action and Uses Stimulant, carminative, given in dyspepsia and flatulent colic excellent to add to bitter infusions; specially valuable in alcoholic gastritis; of use for diarrhoea from relaxed bowel where there is no inflammation. Ginger Tea is a hot infusion very useful for stoppage of the mensesdue to cold, externally it is a rubefacient. Essence of Ginger should be avoided, as it is often adulterated with harmful ingredients.
Dosage Infusion: 1/2 oz. bruised or powdered root to 1 pint boiling water is taken in 1 fluid ounce. Dose, 10 to 20 grains.

The Toad
Throughout history the toad has been a bridge to the otherworld. It is able to spend its life both in the water and on land. The toad often plays the part of the scapegoat, and is made to pay penance for the guilt of another. At other times it holds the mysteries of all that is feminine and calls the rain to the crops. Still, the toad is sometimes seen as an omen of impending death. It is through this duality that one is able to understand the relationship between the witch and the toad - the ability to transcend the mysteries of life and death.

Study on Obese Pregnant Mothers and Metformin
I was appalled whilst listening to an interview on BBC Radio 4 concerning a studying on obese pregnant mothers. It is believed the foetus is protected when diabetic mothers are taking Metformin which is a drug commonly prescribed for diabetes. Apparently it is a cheap and a so called 'SAFE' drug. Thing is this new study is on non-diabetic pregnant obese mothers. This is so wrong!!!
I am diabetic and I was bullied onto Metformin three years ago, I stayed on it for 6 weeks but had such terrible side effects that I took myself off of it, stopping eating for three days to allow my body to start healing itself. It took me a good six months to get back to where I was before I agreed to take this drug. I do not take any drugs now but do everything else and I know that this keeps me very well indeed.
Has anyone heard of Thalidomide?????? That was supposed to be a 'safe' drug. There are many and varied reasons why people are obese and this is a subject that I have studied in great depth, yes I am so appalled that pregnant mothers are being experimented on in this way, so appalled.

The Bald Eagle

This majestic bird is associated with the sun and, largely by implication, with monarchs. Eagles have remarkable eyesight and appear able to gaze directly into the sun. The Bald Eagle made itself very evident at the end of the workshop on Metaphysical Transformation that I was facilitating on Sunday in Glastonbury.
Contrary to their reputation, they are not exceptionally high flyers as compared with other birds, but they are extremely powerful and are often able to lift large prey such as sheep or monkeys. Perhaps their remoteness also contributed to an exalted reputation, since they prefer rocky cliffs or tall trees for their nests. Though eagles may be majestic, we should remember that royalty has never been universally beloved.
This symbolism of the eagle was already clearly established in the ancient Mesopotamian poem about Etana, possibly the first ruler ever to have his story written down. The epic of Etana begins with an eagle and a serpent swearing an oath of friendship to each other before Shamash, the god of the sun. The eagle lived in the top of a tree and the serpent at its base, and for a time they and their young shared every kill. One day the eagle ate the young of the serpent, who then burrowed in the carcass of a bull. As soon as the eagle approached to eat, the serpent bit it, cut its wings, and threw the bird into a pit to die of hunger and thirst. Shamash sent the hero Etana to rescue and nurse the eagle, which became his guide. Etana mounted on the back of the eagle to fly up to the heavens to ask Ishtar, a goddess of fertility, for the plant of birth so that he might have a son. The last sections of the manuscript are fragmentary, but Etana apparently did attain his goal and founded the first Sumerian dynasty.
The ascent of Etana is depicted on many seals, and the story seems to have had a wide influence. The Greeks later retold the episode of the two quarrelling animals as an Aesopian fable called "The Eagle and the Fox." The eagle violated a friendship by eating the young of the fox, which then set fire to the eagle's tree in revenge. The motif of a tree with an eagle at the top and a hostile serpent at the base, however, has often been found in myth and legend, and an example is Yggdrasil, the Norse tree of life. The story of Etana may well have influenced the Greek myth of Ganymede, a young man who was abducted by Zeus, in the form of an eagle, so that he might serve on Olympus as cup bearer of the gods.

I was send a wonderful email about a sick eagle that was nursed back to health and with all the photographs, it touched me so much. I am very aware the all animals including birds and humans have a very similar physiology so we are all as one in my eyes.
