Aura Reading

"When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years."  Attributed to Mark Twain
   For all those with children

Greetings!

August already!

I've included some interesting details about the wild strawberry and will certainly try whitening my teeth with them. I've grown these ever since I found one in my garden about 15 years ago and started dividing it up, it does not have runners like cultivated strawberry plants.  They have an extended fruiting season right until the frosts hit.

I've decided to set a new date for the Naturopathic Iridology workshop away from the Festival of Light as I realised that I would be dividing my focus which would not have been ideal for either event or myself.

Well I hope you are all able to enjoy the summer, doing whatever pleases you.  I certainly hope to.

Many Blessings   Liz

New Product - Kilt Pin with five Tibetan Silver Charms

I've been working on a new product that is proving to be very popular, Themed Kilt Pins with Tibetan Silver Charms.  I have Gardening, Sewing, Country & Western, Hearts, Stars, Butterflies, Dragonflies, Dogs, Cats, Fish, Birds, Owls, Parrots, Music, Baby, Fairies, Angels, Flowers, Giraffes, Tigers, Wolves, Foxes, Zebras, Squirrels, vehicles and many more, see photograph below.  My even newer project, charm bracelets nearly sold out last week in Glastonbury, so I will be making more. They are nice affordable presents for your friends or yourself. I've found that many like to hang the kilt pins on their handbags.

Tibetan silver is used primarily in jewellery components, and is similar to pewter - an alloy of copper, and sometimes tin or nickel, with a small percentage of pure silver. Its overall appearance is of aged silver, but it can be polished to provide highlights on complex castings. The nickel content is nowadays reduced or absent, due to common allergies to this metal.

The Gray/Grey Wolf

The Grey Wolf

In Native American mythology wolves were generally revered by tribes that survived by hunting. I always see the wolf as a symbol of the teacher

The gray wolf or grey wolf (Canis lupus), often known simply as the wolf, is the largest extant wild member of the Canidae family. Though once abundant over much of Eurasia, North Africa and North America, the gray wolf inhabits a reduced portion of its former range due to widespread destruction of its territory, human encroachment, and the resulting human-wolf encounters that sparked broad extirpation. Even so, the gray wolf is regarded as being of least concern for extinction by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, when the entire gray wolf population is considered as a whole. Today, wolves are protected in some areas, hunted for sport in others, or may be subject to population control or extermination as threats to livestock, people, and pets.

Gray wolves are social predators that live in nuclear families consisting of a mated pair, their offspring and, occasionally, adopted immature wolves. They primarily feed on ungulates, which they hunt by wearing them down in short chases. Gray wolves are typically apex predators throughout their range, with only humans and tigers posing significant threats to them.

The Garden

I heard a discussion on the radio indicating that this year our crops are so advanced that apples can be ready two months early.  It is said that this is good news as the season will be extended giving the chance of excellent crops. My own apples are much earlier. I didn't really notice the 'June drop' where so many immature apples just fall off the tree. Now I think of it my summer raspberries were certainly early, way before the normal time at the beginning of July and I've been picking my autumn ones for a couple of weeks now.

The Wild Strawberry from A Modern Herbal - Mrs M Grieve

Medicinal Action and Uses Laxative, diuretic, astringent. Both the leaves and the fruit were in early pharmacopoeias, though the leaves were mostly used. The fruit contains malic and citric acids, a volatile matter, sugar, mucilage, pectin, woody fibre and water. It is easily digested and is not subject to acetous fermentation in the stomach. In feverish conditions the fruit is invaluable, and is also recommended for stone. Strawberry vitamins are of value in sprue. Culpepper declares the plant to be 'singularly good for the healing of many ills,' but Linnaeus was the first to discover and prove the efficacy of the berries as a cure for rheumatic gout.

The root is astringent and used in diarrhoea. The leaves have the same property, and a tea made from them checks dysentery. The stalks only entered into the composition of the once-famous Antioch drink and vulnerary. Some recipes order that the drink should be prepared between the feasts of St. Philip and St. James and the Nativity of St. John the Baptist.

The Strawberry is a useful dentifrice and cosmetic. The fresh fruit removes discoloration of the teeth if the juice is allowed toremain on for about five minutes and the teeth are then cleansed with warm water, to which a pinch of bicarbonate of soda has been added. A cut Strawberry rubbed over the face immediately after washing will whiten the skin and remove slight sunburn. For a badly sunburnt face it is recommended to rub the juice well into the skin, to leave it on for half an hour, and then wash off with warm water to which a few drops of simple tincture of benzoin have been added; no soap should be used.

Where do pets come from?

A newly discovered chapter in the Book of Genesis has provided the answer to "Where do pets come from?"

Adam and Eve said, "Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you any more. We are lonesome here, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you love us."

And God said, "I will create a companion for you that will be with you and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourselves."

And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam and Eve.

And it was a good animal.

And God was pleased.

And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and Eve and he wagged his tail.

And Adam said, "Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of a name for this new animal."

And God said, "I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG."

And Dog lived with Adam and Eve and was a companion to them and loved them.

And they were comforted.

And God was pleased.

And Dog was content and wagged his tail.     After a while, it came to pass that an angel came to the Lord and said, "Lord, Adam and Eve have become filled with pride. They strut and preen like peacocks and they believe they are worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught them that they are loved, but perhaps too well."

And God said, I will create for them a companion who will be with them and who will see them as they are. The companion will remind them of their limitations, so they will know that they are not always worthy of adoration."

And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam and Eve.     And Cat would not obey them. And when Adam and Eve gazed into Cat's eyes, they were reminded that they were not the supreme beings.

And Adam and Eve learned humility.

And they were greatly improved.

And God was pleased.     And Dog was happy.

And Cat didn't give a toss one way or the other.
