A society grows great when old men

plant trees whose shade they know

they shall never sit in.

Greetings!

June already and we are approaching the longest day very swiftly.

There are changes ahead for the September 17th Festival of Light. We had so many visitors in April there were blockages at times so I've worked hard to do all I can to sort this for June.  However I have finally decided what I need to do for 11th event in September to sort the problems.

So, I will be personally offering  at least two paid for workshops, the first will be Iridology.  I've had so many requests since I stopped working on a one to one basis with clients.  I now work with groups to great effect.  The second one in September will probably be Regression.  See below.

I have just recorded a new Healing Visualisation CD.  Details below.

Can you help us on 25th June at the Festival of Light?

We need some help at the next Festival of Light, is anyone out there that could help us.  Nothing strenuous but helping to set up and maybe sell my jewellery and power animals, giving out leaflets, programs etc. An hour or two or even all day.  Please contact me if this interests you and I will explain all.  Future free workshop places and or ecourses will be offered to helpers.

New Workshops at the September 17th Festival of Light

Would you like to help at the Festival of Light in exchange for a place on the workshop/s or eCourses?  If so please contact me for further details.

From the September Festival of Light I will be offering paid for workshops alongside the free presentations.  One suite will be dedicated to this to alleviate the blockages due the the number of people attending this event.  The paid for workshops alongside my own stand selling healing jewellery and power animals will help to support the Festival.  This will enable me to still offer free entry and presentations to all.

I have decided the first workshop will be Iridology.  Since I stopped offering all one to one consultations I have received a string of requests for Iridology and many other subjects.  The second workshop will probably be Regression and Past Life Healing.  Future workshops will include Aura Reading, Crystal & Colour Healing/Therapy, Metaphysical Healing and more.

I stopped offering my Weston-super-Mare workshops at the end of 2010 because I turned the venue which was my consulting room into my jewellery making studio.  So it now makes sense to pull everything together at the Festivals of Light at the Winter Gardens, Weston-super-Mare.

I will be setting the times and costs shortly, certainly in time for people to book at the June 25th Festival of Light.  Places are limited.

New Healing Visualisation CD

I've added my second CD on Healing Visualisation.  This is a 36 minute focus on the body and it's main systems, lungs, heart, arteries, veins, lymphatics, skeleton, nervous system, digestive and eliminative sytems.  Ending in a very healing & peaceful space. I had Richard in mind when I was recording and intuitively went with what I was being shown. My greyhound Tex was with me in my studio and by the end we were both very chilled out, so much that it was quite a job to persuade Tex to come back down to the house with me.  I will have these in Glastonbury and Weston-super-Mare or you can puchase online.  http://www.drelizabethanndiamond.com

Update on Richard

Richard has endured the first chemotherapy treatment and with 3 weeks in between he starts the next session this Thursday or Friday.  The great news is that he is now getting some sleep and the pain is being managed at last.  Richard is so very positive and is fighting all the way, he just wants a bit more time with his wife Penny and his children Charlotte 12 and Ellie who was 11 last Saturday.

Richard will be at the next Festival of Light but he won't be working, he knows that this is the best place for him so that he can absorb the wonderful healing energy at this event. If it was all about guts and determination he will not fail to acheive what he wants. The mind is such a powerful tool.

Fused Glass

Fused Glass

This is a pic of some of the fused glass that I fired on Sunday in my kiln. I will be making these into pendants once I have rubbed them down with diamond pads, glued the metal fittings on the backs, selected coloured wax cotton cord, chain or ribbon to hang them on and applied the ends and fasteners. I sell them from £2.50 to £10.  You just never know how each piece will turn out so it can be so exciting. Each time I learn more and change what I try next, which is the best way to progress. Every piece is unique and it certainly feeds my creative side. Some of the items can be seen on my website but my stock changes so rapidly it can never contain my full range. I will bring everything along to the June Festival of Light so come along and check it out. Sales from my stand help to maintain the free entry and presentations at the Festival.

The Owl

Owl

Since I have been running my new stand in Glastonbury and Weston-super-Mare I seem to have aquired rather a lot of model owls in wood, pottery and metal.  There is so much that has been written about the owl and indeed Ted Andrews includes nine pages in his brilliant book Animal Speak.  He attributes The Mystery of Magic, Omens, Silent Wisdom and Vision in the Night to Owls.

Native Americans associated the meaning of owl with wisdom, foresight, and keeper of sacred knowledge. This may largely be due to the fact that the owl is a great foreteller of weather conditions. Also its ability to see at night is legend among the Native Americans, and this attribute would be invoked during ceremonies when an

oracle of secret knowledge was required.

Similarly, West African and Aboriginal Australian cultures viewed the owl as a messenger of secrets, kin to sorcerers, as well as companions to seers, mystics and medicine people.

During medieval times in western and central Europe it was fabled that owls were actually priestesses (witches) and wizards in disguise. To this day the owl is considered a witch's familiar (an animal soul-spirit linked to a spiritual person via a unique, communicative bond).        www.whats-your-sign.com

Macavity - the Mystery Cat, by T.S. Eliot

Macavity's a Mystery Cat: he's called the Hidden Paw -

For he's the master criminal who can defy the Law.

He's the bafflement of Scotland Yard, the Flying Squad's despair:

For when they reach the scene of crime - Macavity's not there!

Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity,

He's broken every human law, he breaks the law of gravity.

His powers of levitation would make a fakir stare,

And when you reach the scene of crime - Macavity's not there!

You may seek him in the basement, you may look up in the air -

But I tell you once and once again, Macavity's not there!

Mcavity's a ginger cat, he's very tall and thin;

You would know him if you saw him, for his eyes are sunken in.

His brow is deeply lined with thought, his head is highly domed;

His coat is dusty from neglect, his whiskers are uncombed.

He sways his head from side to side, with movements like a snake;

And when you think he's half asleep, he's always wide awake.

Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity,

For he's a fiend in feline shape, a monster of depravity.

You may meet him in a by-street, you may see him in the square -

But when a crime's discovered, then Macavity's not there!

He's outwardly respectable. (They say he cheats at cards.)

And his footprints are not found in any file of Scotland Yard's.

And when the larder's looted, or the jewel-case is rifled,

Or when the milk is missing, or another Peke's been stifled,

Or the greenhouse glass is broken, and the trellis past repair -

Ay, there's the wonder of the thing! Macavity's not there!

And when the Foreign Office find a Treaty's gone astray,

Or the Admiralty lose some plans and drawings by the way,

There may be a scrap of paper in the hall or on the stair -

But it's useless to investigate - Mcavity's not there!

And when the loss has been disclosed, the Secret Service say:

`It must have been Macavity!' - but he's a mile away.

You'll be sure to find him resting, or a-licking of his thumbs,

Or engaged in doing complicated long-division sums.

Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity,

There never was a Cat of such deceitfulness and suavity.

He always has an alibi, and one or two to spaer:

At whatever time the deed took place - MACAVITY WASN'T THERE!

And they say that all the Cats whose wicked deeds are widely known

(I might mention Mungojerrie, I might mention Griddlebone)

Are nothing more than agents for the Cat who all the time

Just controls their operations: the Napoleon of Crime!

I decided to share this one with you for June.  This was the only poem we attempted to learn at school. Week after week after week the teacher tried and failed miserably to get us all to recite this poem from memory.  We were all willing but not so sure the 'teach' was up to it!  We could all do the first two lines though. Good to read it all through at last after nearly 50 years.

Mookaite

This is another of my all time favourites, I first came across this stone when I was offered strands of multi coloured beads I bought about a dozen temporary strands, cut them up and sorted them into colours, what bliss.  There was almost every colour except blue or green from almost white through yellows, pinks, purples to the darkest aniseed I made them into healing necklaces.  Surprisingly the ones where the stones had more than one colour in each bead sold first.   Then I bought more beads.

Once people pick up a mookaite they often love it and say the stone feels soft.

Mookaite is an Australian aboriginal healing stone that bestows strength. It helps with the healing of wounds and with regeneration. Useful in stabilising health and in fortifying the immune system, Mookaite purifies the blood in the liver and the spleen

Mookaite encourages within us, the desire for variety and new experiences. It can make us more flexible in our thinking and enhances our decision making. It also helps us to recognise that there could be several possibilities for the outcome of any issue. It also enables us to choose the best solution to that issue. Mookaite helps us to embrace and celebrate new circumstances and helps us when dealing with negative situations. Mookaite helps us to be kind to others, and also, quite importantly, helps us to be kind to ourselves too. It is a very protective stone, and is particularly good as an emotional protector.

Mookaite helps us to realise that meditation may be possible during any activity. It is also said to stimulate contact with loved ones who have passed over and to better communicate with animals.

Cardamom  - Eletteria cardamomum

History The third most expensive spice after saffron & vanilla.  Seeds prized in India long before the birth of Christ. Used in perfumes in ancient Greece and Rome. In the Bedouin culture the cardamom to be used in coffee is displayed. Plump blemish free pods imply esteem and respect for the guests.

Distribution Grows wild in the rainforests of southern India and Sri Lanka at altitudes between 750 and 1,500m (2,500 and 5,000ft).  As well as it's native habitat it is now cultivated in Guatemala, Tanzania and Vietnam.  Whole seedpods are internationally traded.  Green pods are the best then pods bleached with sulphur dioxide and seeds when the pods split.

Appearance & Growth Large perennial bush that grows 2-5m (6ft-15ft) high.

Harvesting Three years after planting there is the first small harvest then a further 10-15 years of productivity. Harvested from September to December and dried on open platforms in the sunshine or special rooms.

Aroma and Taste The aroma is mellow. At first the taste has a camphor like note, is sharply bitter and strong.  It lingers quite a while but is warming and agreeable.  Whole pods are wonderful in savoury rice, when you bite on the pod your head and mouth are filled with the taste and aroma.

Uses Culinary - enhances sweet or savoury tastes, all the flavour is in the seeds not the pod.  It is one of the main components of garam masala and curry powders. The Scandinavians are the biggest importers for use in their spiced cakes, pastries and breads.

Medicinal - The tincture is used for flatulence and stomach disorders or to cleanse the breath of excessive garlic. Indians chew 'betel quide' as a mouth freshener and digestive aid, it is made from betel leaves, cardamom and areca nuts. Other Uses  As an essential oil in perfumes, liqueurs and bitters.
