April already and spring is officially here with the days growing longer. It seems to have been a long cold damp winter but there are now encouraging signs of growth in the garden. I'm so looking forward to growing, gathering and using herbs. I've included details of Calendula or Pot Marigold, such a bright cheerful plant and so useful.  There is also some amusing Haiku poetry, it certainly made me smile when I first read it many years ago.  It can be so frustrating when the technologies that we rely on malfunction. The book offer is still available until 5th April but a lot of the hard copies are now sold out but no probs with the eBooks.  There are also some spaces left on the free Sacred Geometry workshops, see below.

April Full Moon - Wednesday 28th April 12:18
 
The next full moon is Tuesday 30th March 02:25. It certainly seems to have been an unsettled time for many including myself, so I'm looking forward to moving on after the March full moon. The April full moon is on Wednesday 28th April 12:18  I have noted over many years that there is a change of energy as the moon reaches it's fullest point. It is also very interesting to note that Easter Sunday is the first Sunday after the first full Moon following the Spring Equinox.  For further information on the moon cycles check out  the widget on the first page of http://www.adayofenlightenment.com

CalendulaCalendula or Pot Marigold is chiefly used as a local remedy. It has been asserted that a Marigold flower, rubbed on the affected part, is an admirable remedy for the pain and swelling caused by the sting of a wasp or bee. A lotion made from the flowers is most useful for sprains and wounds, and a water distilled from them is good for inflamed and sore eyes. An infusion of the freshly-gathered flowers is employed in fevers, as it gently promotes perspiration and throws out any eruption - a decoction of the flowers is much in use in country districts to bring out smallpox and measles, in the same manner as Saffron. The leaves when chewed at first communicate a viscid sweetness, followed by a strong penetrating taste, of a saline nature. The leaves, eaten as a salad, have been considered useful in the scrofula of children, and the acrid qualities of the plant have caused it to be recommended as an extirpator of warts.  A Modern Herbal - Mrs M Grieve
