WANT TO RAISE FUNDS FOR UNITED WAY AND CHECK OUT THE COKE ZERO 400?
Thanks to our friends at Daytona International Speedway, we are able to offer our Race Parking Volunteers one ticket to the Coke Zero 400 on Saturday night as a Thank-You for your service.
Through the continued generosity of Target on ISB & Williamson, United Way will once again be monitoring the parking lots during the July 2010 races! This has always been a VERY successful fundraiser for United Way, but it can only be done with your help! We raised over $37,000 this past February--thanks to the support of over 100 volunteers over the course of those 5 days. We'll need volunteers once again to help us hand out parking passes, help run the lot, directing traffic, spreading the LIVE UNITED and United Way message, and assist with set up & break down. We are still in search of volunteer support as follows:
Friday, 7/2: 6 volunteers, 4pm-8:30pm
Saturday, 7/3: 7 volunteers, 11:30am-4:30pm Saturday, 7/3: 6 volunteers, 4pm-8:30pm.
If you or someone you know would be interesting in serving for Race Parking (and checking out a great race), please register ASAP by calling 386-366-9080. Race tickets are limited and shifts are assigned on a first-come-first-serve basis.
All volunteers, including those returning for another round, are asked to attend a pre-service training/orientation, Tuesday, 6/29/10, 5:30-6:30pm at United Way. |

THANK YOU FOR STUFFING THE BUS!

June 19th was United Way's Day of Action and a chance for our community to come together to give, advocate, volunteer and to learn more about Education issues. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO DONATED OR VOLUNTEERED DURING THE STUFF THE BUS: SCHOOL SUPPLIES DRIVE!
Support from the community for this event was amazing with droves of people coming and dropping off donations. With your help, we DOUBLED our efforts this year--collecting donations and over 8000 school supplies at an estimated value of more than $5600! Over 40 volunteers led the charge, devoting 208 service hours to this project valued at over $4300. Where did these supplies go? Flagler County: Donation in Flagler County went to the Flagler County Education Foundation's "STUFF Bus" which The "STUFF Bus" is an on-going mobile project serving basic essentials to those in need. Volusia County: Supplies donated in Volusia County went to teachers and students in those most impoverished schools.
A big thanks to our United Way Projects Leaders who truly made all this possible: Myrna Fontanez, Dee Aceto, and Theresa Wolf, with Project eaders Woody Douge, Ashley Parsons, Erica Champine, Lorraine Jackson, Sam Ruiz assisting with the on-site efforts.
