United Way President Ray Salazar Honored by Community Partnership for Children.

Ray Salazar receives award.

Ray Salazar was selected as the 2009 Distinguished Friend of Children by the Community Partnership for Children for his years of service to Volusia and Flagler Counties, especially his service as the Chair of the Community Alliance and his leadership on the Community Agenda.  Ray's involvement with Community Based Care goes back years. His work with DCF and with Community Partnership for Children helped to move the system forward by bringing a strong sense of community involvement and accountability to the Child Welfare System in Volusia and Flagler Counties. Time and time again, regardless of the audience, Ray reminds people that the children in the Child Welfare System are our children, not just wards of the state and they are our community's responsibility. Working behind the scenes and with little fanfare, Ray works tirelessly to move his vision of a data-driven focused human services system that will increase the efficient use of scarce resources and improve accountability in the services delivered.  The Community Agenda sprung from Ray's vision of using data to tell the story of the human condition in our community. His efforts represent this community's best chance to improve the lives of all of our citizens, especially our children.
