The Corvallis Clinic Foundation offers health occupation scholarships

   

CORVALLIS - The Corvallis Clinic Foundation is supporting the health care careers of future doctors, nurses and other medical professionals by offering scholarships for college and high school students to study in health-related careers. Applicants are sought for the James R. Naibert Scholarship offered directly through The Corvallis Clinic Foundation. Other high school and college scholarship applications are available through the applicant's respective high school and university financial aid offices. Scholarships include:

 

James R. Naibert, M.D., Scholarship - A $1,000 scholarship in honor of Dr. James R. Naibert is awarded to a college sophomore or above who is studying in a health-related profession that involves direct patient care, such as a physician, nursing, technical profession or pharmaceutical studies. The scholarship honors Dr. Naibert, a family physician at The Corvallis Clinic's Waverly Drive facility who now works in The Clinic's Immediate Care Center. His patients chose to recognize his efforts by establishing the scholarship for area students. To be eligible, applicants must have graduated from a high school in Linn or Benton county and be a college sophomore standing or above, or have lived in the mid-valley for at least three years while working in a health care field with direct patient care. A 3.25 post-secondary grade point average is preferred.

Other scholarships offered by The Corvallis Clinic Foundation are presented through individual schools. Applications are available at each school's counseling or scholarship office. 

 

James A. Riley University Scholarships - Named in honor of a former Clinic physician and founder of The Clinic Foundation, Dr. James A. Riley, these scholarships are for Oregon State University students in the College of Science, and the College of Health and Human Sciences, who have decided to pursue a career in a health-related field. Applicants should inquire through the respective OSU colleges.

 

The Corvallis Clinic Health Occupation Scholarships - High school students who have decided to pursue a career in a health-related field may apply through their high school scholarship office at Corvallis, Crescent Valley, Philomath, West Albany and South Albany high schools. Students must have a 3.25 GPA to be eligible and demonstrate enrollment at a college or university.

 

George D. Knox Memorial Scholarship - Established by the Foundation and the George D. Knox family in honor of the well-respected Corvallis Clinic neurologist George D. Knox. Through this endowment, a $500 scholarship is awarded each year to a Corvallis area high school student who expresses an interest in entering a health-related career field or the humanities. A 3.0 GPA is required. The 2012 scholarship will be awarded at Corvallis High School and applicants should inquire through the high school counseling office.
