 best places to stay

Things to check before the race!

1) Registration:
Get there early enough to register and start on your maps.  Click for schedule.

2) Accommodations: If you are planning on staying in the area - we have a list of places that you might enjoy - well at the very least be able to sleep on a bed.

3) Dinner tickets:
This year we were unable to include dinner with the price of the race.  Let us know if you would like to purchase dinner tickets.  email: heather@esar.ca

4) NEW! Timing
This year each team will be issued a SPORTident Timing chip which they will use to 'punch in' at each of the course checkpoints that they reach.  The SPORTident control box at each checkpoint will digitally record your arrival time onto your chip and the data will be later downloaded and entered into the overall results at the finish line.

5) Race day Breakfast
Breakfast will be available for purchase at the host site.  It is a cafeteria style breakfast with eggs and bacon and an assortment of options.  There is no need to pre-order breakfast.

Greetings!

Race course Tips and hints:

ESAR course testers
We've been testing the course and it's fun - fun - fun!  Here are some things to think about.

Maps:  You will see three scales in this year's course: 1:50 000 and 1:7500 and 1:5000.  If you are unsure of what any of this means - see our AR training course below.  (you can take the nav section only:)

Bikes: After testing the course we can say there is something for everyone in this little gem!  One thing I recommend is a pair of sunglasses or at the very least a pair of clear glasses if it happens to be raining - plus it makes you look way cooler.

Paddle:  I see bubbles in the water.

Trekking:  Check your maps for the scale.  This will help you find all the treasures.
Videos from ESAR past and present
ESAR videos Since 2003 when we started ESAR, there have been videos floating around the internet about the race. Here are some of those videos, and be sure to check the date, as I don't want you to be confused as to what to expect. Don't freak out - there is no super humongous hill at the start of this year's race!  ESAR videos here
