Dear Storm'ers,

a good hike day
Fuelled by the momentum of a monumental year, we at Storm Racing have been going all-out at race pace over the past two months, working to assemble what's coming together as an absolutely spectacular-looking 2009 race season.  As a result, we're leaps and bounds ahead of our usual schedule for unveiling details for the upcoming year!

Our dates are set; all of our racecourses are completely finalized; we have a new series sponsor; our website (www.stormevents.ca) is now fully updated with all the new info; and registration is slated to open in only a few short weeks.   So much to report....where to start?

NEW HOST SITE & ALL NEW RACECOURSES FOR STORM THE TRENT

a good hike day
For 2009, Canada's largest adventure sports event will take on a whole new region; feature three all-new racecourses hosted from a resort setting; and will return to the traditional "straight-time" (ie. not points-based) race format of years past.  As always, solo racers and teams of 2 or 4 will have the choice of three separate events, custom-designed to suit a wide range of skill and ability levels, but without the set time limits imposed at the 2008 event.  Race options will include:

Hike short-course (3-5 hours)
Trek long-course (4-6 hours)
Trek Elite advanced course (6-8 hours)

For 2009, Trudeau Park Resort, just east of the village of Tweed will welcome the eighth annual Storm'ing of the Trent, and we could not be more excited about it!  Past host to the World Electronic Music Festival, Trudeau Park features camping accommodations for over 1,000 people, in addition to its own resort-style motel, bar & lounge, and restaurant facilities.

The region surrounding Trudeau Park is equally as well-suited for the eighth annual production of STT; boasting all of the elements that make for an awesome day of off-road multi-sport.  This area has never played host to an adventure race event, and the local community is eagerly awaiting the arrival of up to 500 racers next May.  Start getting your team together now to ensure that you don't miss out!

a good hike dayOur entire website has been completely refreshed with 2009 content and images - check it all out at www.stormevents.ca  Registration will officially open on Friday January 8th, and early entry rates will be in effect until February 15th, enabling you to save $10/person off your race fees.

New for Storm the Trent - race souvenirs for the first 400 racers to register!  Don't let this be your only incentive for signing up early though - last year's race was completely sold out within three weeks of Race Day, and we're expecting another full-capacity event for 2009.  Don't miss out on the chance to take part in the largest gathering of multi-sport adventurers in the country!

ROCKSTAR RETURNS!
a good hike day
Take it from those who were there - Saucony RockstAR is the new "MUST DO" adventure race event!  On July 25, 2009, we will rock you once again - this time with both 4-hour and 8-hour race options, designed to suit teams of all levels.  We'll be cranking things up another notch at the Bark Lake Leadership Centre to exceed the standard set at last year's inaugural event, which was unanimously voted by the organizing team of Storm Racing and Hark Events as "the most 'funnest' race we've ever produced."

Don't take our word for it though - check out the glowing review from Team Running Free member Sally Heath, in her race report available at runningfree.com, or check out the 2008 video at www.racetherockstar.com

Watch for a new race layout to be unveiled at the 2009 Salomon Storm the Ten, designed to minimize transitions per lap and maximize on-course enjoyment!  We at Storm Racing continue to be blown away by all that Milton's Kelso Conservation Area offers us in staging Canada's only relay-style adventure race, and we can't wait to return for Year 3 as we prepare for even bigger and better things to come!  Watch for more details to be posted throughout the year at www.stormevents.ca/stormthe10
