McDonald House

Twenty years before the city initiated the Solar Beaverton Residential Home Program, Dan and Kendal McDonald installed a solar water heater at their Highland Hills home.  That rooftop thermal solar system has served the family well and is still going strong.  Then in 2009, the McDonalds decided to add a 4.95kW photovoltaic (electric) system on their 2300 sq ft all-electric house.

In order to show their fellow Beaverton community members just how easy and fun solar can be, the McDonalds are generously opening their home to visitors on June 5th.
