Conrad Home
Portland
The project required the coordination of three differant operations: the new roof, the removal and reattaching of the 3 existing solar thermal panels and the installation of the new 3.2 kw photovoltaic system. This was not an easy task given the height of our roof and the limited space around the house.

"Why All The Flak Over Oregon's Big Green Success?"
Award-winning energy reporter Lisa Cohn - a regular SNL Financial columnist - published a powerful article in defense of Oregon's clean energy financing programs, including the Business Energy Tax Credit (BETC). These programs have played an integral role in the growth and success of Oregon's solar manufacturing and distributed generation initiatives. Cohn provides under-publicized information about Oregon's returns on investing in clean energy as an economic development strategy, and contrasts data about Oregon's leading clean energy economy with an adverse media trend that occurred amid the context of world energy crises.

Rally For Solar!
May 10, 2011 @ Noon - State Capital Building, Salem, Oregon

With a full-scale nuclear disaster ongoing in Japan, a surge in oil prices, and gasoline hitting $4 a gallon all across America, it is time for SOLAR energy to rise up as a significant, clean, and powerful component in America's energy policy.
Recently, President Obama and Oregon Governor Kitzhaber announced the need for change in our nation's energy policy, and they both look to clean and renewable energy as the key to our future roadmap. This is the promise of SOLAR energy, so now is the time to act!

EarthShare announces new Executive Director

EarthShare Executive Director Jan Wilson
|
Earlier this month EarthShare of Oregon (ESOR) announced the hiring of their new Executive Director Jan Wilson. For many years, ESOR has been a steady supporter of Solar Oregon with generous contributions from their workplace giving campaign. Employees and businesses of all sizes can contribute to local environmental organizations through a variety of EarthShare programs. We also want to mention that ESOR project coordinator Aurora Oliva recently installed a 2 KW solar electric system at her home and helped Solar Oregon in taping some footage for an upcoming educational video.

Solar Drinks at Prost! on Mississippi
May 10th 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Solar Drinks is an opportunity for folks in the greater Portland area to meet other community members who support renewable energy. Next month we will be joined by Christina Williams, editor of Sustainable Business Oregon (SBO), who will talk about solar trends in SBO's publications and how good and bad press effects the renewable industry here in Portland.

Thanks to this month's host, Prost! pub on Mississippi. They carry a wide selection of German beers, which can be enjoyed in their outdoor seating area. There is also a food pod adjacent to Prost!'s patio, so you can grab a bite to soak up all that good beer.
Solar Drinks events are open to non-Solar Oregon Members for a $5.00 donation; become a member today! 21 and over only. RSVP required.
