Meet the new face of residential solar at Energy Trust Jason Jepsen

My name is Jason Jepsen, and I am the new Residential Solar Project Manager at the Energy Trust of Oregon.  For the past 15 years, I have owned and operated a solar energy and hydronic heating contracting business in southern Colorado.  In this role, I designed, sold and installed many solar electric, solar hot water, and boiler-based radiant heating systems.  I have lived off-grid since 1995, and have built several solar-powered, energy efficient homes, including two of my own.  I hope to bring my diverse, hands-on experience to benefit the Oregon solar market.

Community Power, the next step in renewable energy for Oregonians
Eugene Methodist Church

Eugene Methodist Church Community Solar Project

By Stanley Florek
Chief Executive Officer, Tangerine Power

Getting your energy from all-natural sources may seem out of reach. If you rent, or live in a condo, you probably aren't allowed to install electrical equipment on the roof of your neighbor's unit. In some cases, trees, buildings, or mountains block your access to the sun or wind. Many Oregon residents don't have or don't want to spend the up-front cash required to buy onsite generation equipment even with all the incentives available. Finally, it's hard to understand how power systems work and the status quo of flipping on the lights is easy. Community Power is emerging as one way for everyone to produce clean energy. In some cases it will make them money as micro-energy entrepreneurs!

Solar City InstallSolar Oregon Professional Member, Solar City launches new solar lease opion

Thanks to legislative changes to the Residential Energy Tax Credit homeowners can now receive the tax credit when they lease a system as well as buy. Solar Cityis the first of Oregon's installers to offer a leasing option that allows homeowners to take advantage of this change. Under Solar City's new program you can have solar installed on your roof for a low monthly payment. There are multiple options availble under Solar City's program which are worth checking out. Overall this is great news for Oregonians who are looking choices for incorporating renewable energy into their lives.
